New Pages

I have a website not actively in use so I'm leaning toward usng it to store individual game sum and positional frequency pages. If this should come to pass the pages would be password-protected to prevent piracy and be available by permission only. The pages are under development.

Still planning on updating game and payout innormation for the lottery and Keno pages but due to work requirements and planned travel I don't think this will get underway until March.

Home

Home, finally. A good trip. Finished well enough in the four tournaments in which I placed to receive three prizes, a good percentage in anyone's book - and with three different partners.

Back to work. Will start adding more lottery pages in a separate project about the middle of next month. Full updating of the payout percentage pages should start as early as February.

TAADAAAAA!

Overall win in the tournament here. Great pard, good play and good cards.

Eight rounds, 14 teams, second after six rounds, played the first place team, defeated them, they went to third, we're in first place, last round, played the second place team, defeated them and won the tournament.

Off to Charleston SC for a reunion tomorrow.

Interim Projects

Working on completing files for site update, but at a point where starting the last phase can wait until I go back on the road. This project is about 92% complete. I've planned the actual upload for about 04 Dec 04, but that may be moved up to Thanksgiving weekend if all goes well. It's a major alteration - about 300MB - and will consume at least a full day of time to complete. After the actual upload takes place it's going to be a rough couple of days while existing ".css" files are converted to the new file structure - please excuse any inconvenience. The data will still be able to be viewed, but the appearance may be flawed.

Until I leave I'm working on pages to do some analysis. I have no idea whether anything concrete will be accomplished, and the analysis may not come to fruition and never be aired but I'm plugging away.....

Still planning on departing Wed 13 Oct 04 for Centralia WA, Frankfort KY, Lake Harmony PA, Omaha NE, Charleston SC and Cleveland OH - gone for five weeks.

Transition.....

Since I've returned from DC I've done very little about updating the content of the lottery and Keno pages on my site, although it's long overdue. I've been focusing my attention more on how I want the pages to appear and how I want to control same. With that in mind I've been working on new backgrounds, new site file structures and new controls. This is not only going to affect the games pages, it'll change the entire structure of the site. I want to start to utilize ".css" files to a further extent than I have in the past and that requires a learning process. It's not going to affect content but will make changes in appearance, readability and the ease of accessibility, alteration and updating. Hopefully the first part of this evolution will be complete before the end of the year.

Reflection on Frequency Charts - In Retrospect

Now that I've had a night to think about it (and look at the charts again a few times) I remember all the changes that occurred while building these two pages. From the onset, there were changes in the page normat, changes in the software used to edit the code, changes in the code normat to facilitate a later transfer, changes in the way the data was generated and, finally, changes in the way the data was transferred from the spreadsheet to the web page. Had there been all the resources and knowledge available at the onset, this project could have been accomplished in about four to six weeks rather than the six to eight months it actually took. But each process change involved returning to an earlier point of the project and repeating some of the work, once to the point of almost starting over. And I don't regret one bit of it. Life is a learning process. I feel that once you stop learning, you stop living.

The pages are complete, at least data-wise. That won't change. Later I may tweak the appearance of the Numeric Positional Frequency page somewhat to reduce the size of the code necessary to present the innormation, but that's it. The innormation on those two pages represent my best effort at producing same, and I believe it is the best and most accurate representation of that innormation from any source, on any media, at any price. Am I proud of it? Darned right, I'm proud! Behind those numbers are two correlating methods of data production, 1,152 VBA programs, four spreadsheets and almost 4,000 pages of hard copy in case anyone should anyone need or want proof. It was a lot of work. Was it worth it? I think so. If anything it puts all the data of this type at one source for reference by anyone and, at the least, will speed the process should I ever take on a similar project. It also taught me that there may be deeper numerical relationships between groups of numbers than may first be apparent, so it improved my analytical skills as well.

But now it's done, it's over. Onward and forward to bigger and better things.
