both counties and city were under storm watch last evening & sure enough chit like this happens !! ROFLMAO
shame on the Mighty Rappahannock River 4 not taking thar pathetic lives!!
This morning, at approximately 1:30 AM, our crews responded to a 911 call for 11 adult victims stranded on an island in the Rappahannock River. Before our personnel arrived, two male victims managed to swim safely to shore, while the remaining 9 stayed behind on the island. Due to the fast-moving current and rising water levels, mutual aid was requested from Stafford’s Water Rescue Team. Stafford and Spotsylvania personnel worked quickly to establish a ferry line utilizing an inflatable raft to safely shuttle the victims back to shore. We are happy to report that all 9 stranded victims were rescued and all 11 victims were released on scene without injury. A huge thank you to our partners from Stafford County Fire and Rescue in this successful operation. Important Reminder: With recent precipitation and rising river levels, we urge everyone to remain cautious near bodies of water. If you’re out near the river, please be aware of changing conditions, especially if there’s rainfall upstream. Stay safe, stay alert, and always be prepared!
