Largest lottery jackpot in the world; may become the largest Calif. jackpot since 2002

The jackpot in the California SuperLotto Plus lottery game grew to $98 million Thursday — currently the largest lottery jackpot in the world.

If the jackpot inches up a few million before the drawing, it will become the largest California lottery jackpot in four years.  On Saturday, August 24, 2002, a $120 Million jackpot was awarded.

None of the tickets sold for Wednesday night's $90 million drawing matched all five lotto numbers and the Mega number. The next drawing will be Saturday night.

There were nine second-prize winners from Wednesday night's drawing, matching all five lotto numbers but not the Mega number to win $20,630 each.

In addition, there are seven other ways that California SuperLotto Plus tickets can win prizes. (Each way of winning is called a "prize level".) The prize levels, and resulting value of each winning ticket is based upon the number of the first five lotto numbers that are matched (in any order), plus whether or not the ticket matches the Mega number.

The other seven winning ticket prize amounts for Wednesday's drawing are:

The winning numbers from Wednesday's drawing were: 4, 10, 15, 17, 29. The Mega number was 22.

Players pick five numbers from 1 to 47 and a Mega number from 1 to 27 on their playslip, or they can choose a Quick Pick, which lets the lottery machine pick random numbers for them.

On any play, a person can mark "Quick Pick" to select just the five numbers, or just the Mega number, or both.

California uses "pari-mutuel" prize payouts at all prize levels to determine how much money each winning ticket is awarded. Each prize level is allocated a percentage of the total sales for the drawing, and the actual prize amounts per winning ticket are calculated by dividing the prize level's allocated funds by the number of winners at that level.

If there are no winning tickets at a certain prize level, the funds allocated to that prize level "roll over" to the next drawing, increasing the value of winning tickets at that prize level for the next drawing.

California's lottery regulations require all California lottery games to use this pari-mutuel payout method, even including Mega Millions. (All other Mega Millions states use a fixed-prize payout method for all prize levels except the jackpot.)

Today I went home from work early because suddenly they had no job for me, about 10:54 AM. On my way home, I was almost out of gas. Then, I stopped at AM-PM gas station for cheap gas at $2.97/gal, but they did not accept credit card. What a bad day. I only had $10 left when I want to fill up the tank. So I decided to use part of the cash to purchase some numbers. I would fill the tank up at the loction near my home. Besides, I also stopped at 7-Eleven for another shot on Super Lotto Plus for $5 with 1 number I pick my self. The rest I let the cashier quick pick. I would love to see SLP offical adding another $2 millions into the jackpot to make it look nicer.

Now, I just wait for this Saturday draw. Let me have a big July 4 celebration GOD.

Were you laid off or just sent home for the day?  Sorry about your lousy day, dingo.  I wish you a lot of luck!

I am only a temporary worker. Two supervisors like me very much because I work very fast. But others complain that they have no work to do. So I was sent home (curse those lazy people). I have to wait until next Thursday. One week no work, no pay. Therefore, I just pray to hit the jackpot like everyone else.

And Thanks for your concern justxploring.

Hey Dingo,

don't curse those lazy people, khrama dhrama, bless them, it will come back at ya, mucho better to have blessings coming back at ya than curse's Bro.  I wish ya luck.

Good luck brother!!!

I hope CA SLP continues to roll and go above 100+ million. However, it has taken 22 straight rolls without a jackpot winner to reach this far.

Dingo for employer two lazy workers doing the same volume as one hard-working are better  cause your boss gets benefit$ from government for creating more jobs. I don't really mind if there gonna be two winners on this jackpot, from San Jose and LA.

Just6ntlc

This is a great story. CA SLP Jackpot for 7/5 has rolled to 106 million.

Hey Dingo,

I believe that all things happen for a reason.  Show gratitude for all that has happened to you and visualize yourself being successful and abundant.  Winning the lottery or some other success will be in your cards.
