This is yet another example of why requiring lottery winners to be publicly identified is crazy. There is no need for winners to be publicly indentify, here in NSW, winners are allowed to remain anonymous and 99% do. Requiring winners to go public, can be disaster for the winners. "Friends" and family expect "help" and relationships can breakdown if they don't feel they are getting a fair "share".

He had to have known the incredible amount of hatred and disgust people have for molesters. And it doesn't take a genius to know being publicly announced as a lottery winner is going to stir the pot and seriously rile some people up. Anyway, if he didn't know it then he knows it now.

Although this situation has not turned out good for all those involved, at least it did raise awareness to this horrible problem.  I believe that they could have been some devine intervention on the part of this particular lottery. I hope that some good can come out of this, maybe STAR can reach out to the victims of Ahsoak. Nothing is going to change what happen to the people he violated, but it does have people talking and maybe someone can benefit before it happens to their family.
