PORTLAND, Ore. — For $10, the Oregon Lottery says the odds of becoming a millionaire will be better than than the average lottery ticket.
The lottery is offering its first raffle, with a guaranteed $1 million jackpot to be announced on March 17, St. Patrick's Day. The drawing is scheduled for 8 p.m. Pacific Time.
Beginning Sunday, the lottery will sell 250,000 tickets for $10 each, making the odds of winning the jackpot 1-in-250,000 — a long shot but far better than Powerball, at 1 in 195 million, or Megabucks, at 1 in 6 million.
There will also be 10 guaranteed prizes of $20,000 each and 1,000 of $100 each.
Players will be able to find the complete list of winning numbers on Lottery Post's Oregon Lottery Results page (www.lotterypost.com/results/or) after the 8 p.m. drawing.
Raffles are a staple of church and school fundraising. The Oregon Lottery is hoping it will attract new players, like other states that have incorporated raffles into their lottery games.
I love raffle ticket. For $10 ticket with better odd in begingin a millionaire is nice.
I agree with you
Not to be picky... But the odds for winning a powerball million is 1 - 5,138,133 if you select powerplay.
$10 is more reasonable than the $20 cost for a Florida raffle ticket, although Florida offered bigger prizes. Even $5 would make a raffle a lot of fun for everyone. I'm sure there were a lot of people here who wanted to buy a raffle ticket, but $20 for one ticket was too much.
