DES MOINES, Iowa — The Iowa Lottery says it will pay qualified players after an operator error on its computer system vendor interrupted its "Big Beepin' Deal" promotion.

Officials say any player who made a qualifying purchase on Sunday, Monday and part of Tuesday can receive a $20 bonus by mailing the ticket to the lottery.

Officials say the error prevented the promotion from running for a time.

The "Big Beepin' Deal" began May 3. For every 20th purchase statewide of a $10 Powerball with a Power Play option, the lottery terminal sounds a car horn and the customer wins $20 cash on the spot.

Iowa Lottery officials said Tuesday that anyone who bought $10 with of Powerball tickets with Powerplay between Sunday and 11:28 a.m. Monday will get $20.

"Some of our players were impacted by this error, but it would be impossible to identify them all, so we're expanding the offer to all players who made a qualifying $10 Powerball with Power Play purchase during the affected time," said Iowa Lottery CEO Terry Rich. "More lottery players will be eligible for a $20 bonus, so in the end, that's good news for our players."

Qualified tickets should be sent to the Iowa Lottery, P.O. Box 10474, Des Moines, Iowa 50306. Be sure to send return address information along with the ticket.

Players have until May 27, 2010, to claim their bonuses.
