I think that was a Smart move but think of all the interest he would of got in 6 months, in a way he lost some of it for not investing it, in the 6 months, but I guess as long as he had the ticket that was all he needed to worry about! I am happy for him, one day I want to win big to. I won't say I will try I am Hurray! going to win!

He collects more after waiting six months to claim than an American would collect winning the same prize and claiming it the next day. Wink

At least he can remain anonymous as all lottery winners can in Australia, if he won an America state lottery, he would be paraded in front of the media.

I could handle a jackpot win, but I definitely would not be mentally ready for publicity. That is why, I believe it is not just wrong, but very dangerous for winners to require them to go public.

We all get a lot out of lotteries!

Many states these days are giving the winner the opportunity to claim anonymously, so I don't think things are as harsh as you're indicating.
