Another winning ticket from Montana will split jackpot

CURTICE, Ohio — On the heels of its first jackpot-winning Powerball draw, the Ohio Lottery has already sold its second jackpot-winning Powerball ticket.

The winning ticket was sold at Shirley's Carryout in Curtice, near Toledo. Ohio Lottery officials traveled to the store location Thursday morning to present store owners with a $48,500 retailer bonus check for selling the winning ticket.

The $97 million jackpot will be split with another winning ticket, sold in Montana.

The holders of the winning tickets have 180 days to come forward and claim their prizes. The winning numbers were 11, 30, 45, 47 and 48 with a Powerball of 10. The Power Play multiplier was 3.

In addition to the jackpot winners, 4 lucky players matched the first 5 numbers for a $200,000 prize: 1 from Florida, 1 from Georgia, 1 from Maine, and 1 from Massachusetts.

The Maine ticket was purchased with the Power Play option, which multiplies their prize to an automatic $1 million cash.

Ohio's first Powerball jackpot, sold at Hub Carryout in Sunbury, came on the June 2 drawing, Ohio's 14th draw since joining the game on April 16. The current jackpot win is Ohio's second Powerball jackpot win in seven drawings. The estimated $97 million jackpot is an annuity option paid in 30 payments over 29 years (the first payment is immediate). The annual payments increase by 4% each year to keep up with the expected cost of living. The cash jackpot is estimated at $50.2 million; Ohio's portion of that is $25.1 million.

While Ohio has seen its second Powerball jackpot winner in a month, Montana has broken an 11-year dry spell with its win last night.  The last time a Montana lottery player won a Powerball jackpot was on March 27, 1999. In that drawing, the Montana winner split the jackpot with a player from Wisconsin.

Powerball is drawn on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Saturday night's jackpot starts at $20 million.

Holy Toledo!

And to the second prize winners from Florida, Georgia and Massachusetts who lost out on an extra $800,000 because they didn't want to spend an extra buck, I'd just like to say: "Hey, congratulations on winning 1/5 of the prize, Ebeneezers!"
