This story is a testament to the unescapable fact that the lottery is truly random and anyone has a chance to win no matter your station life. There is no point is saying that this couple didn't deserve to win. Who "deserves" to win? If there was such a thing then the game would not be random. We can only pray that the couple finds the necessary wisdom to spend the money and that the lady is able to regain a relationship with her son. Let's not judge or we be similarly judged. Now to my question. If anyone has ever played the Euro-millions please do share some insights. I want to know whether the website is legit and whether it's legal to buy lottery tickets, foreign or otherwise, through the Internet. Since I am not conversant with current law on Internet gaming, I would appreciate feedback from somebody with knowledge in this area.

In the UK, you can play EuroMillions online on the UK's National Lottery website. However, you must have a UK address and bank account. I am not sure what the rules are in other European countries, I suspect they may be similar.

We all get a lot out of lotteries!

Louise- It was explained earlier that Prisoners  Or those serving time for Minor offenses can get on a work release program whilst serving time. DUring the Work release program they can go buy tickets, or do you think "all" prisoners are kept in a two by four cell never to see the light of day? Someone serving something like 30 days for speeding, is still "technically" a prisoner, yet they can go to work during the day...and check back into prison whendone. So yes It can be possible for the "prisoner" to buy tickets. THe real question is...can they claim them if its an amount that requires filing....

SmileyThank you TGG for making me remember that there are work release program for people. I never thought of people going to jail for a speeding ticket.

Make sure you obey the law if you ever come through Tennessee now, Miss Louise.

I'd hate to see 'em put ya on the chain-gang.

My  Daddy always said, "If you can't say something good about some one, Keep it to yourself, and don't say nothing at all.

I think it strange here in US that prisoners can buy Lottery tickets and a lot can't afford to buy them.  Some thing weired huh??White Bounce

This is tiggs motto he has lived by for 100 years.."If you can't say something nice about someone don't say anything at all"..All in favor say I..

your welcome. Possibly a poor example using the "speeding Ticket", perhaps Minor offense would have been more appropriate. Point though was, the programs some in-mates get to participate in and allow them to be on the "outside".

Back on topic- We only get a partial of why the mum chose to toss out her hub and son. She is a fickle thing though and not my british cup of tea. Makes me realize why pilgrams left that land....very odd lady indeed. ( Sorry Tiggs I was not raised to bury my head in the sand and look the other way when a person of "ill choices" walks amongst us. )   I was ever so pleased to have validated that Money cant BUY you respect or admiration....not matter who ya are...you got to earn that the same as the next.

I don't think people deserve or don't deserve to win the lottery, since it is and always will be a game of chance. However, this woman sure makes me question the universe and god in its fairness.  Was the antichrist prophesized to have bad teeth and an 80's haircut?  Also, I can't imagine what a person with the word "Hate" tattooed on his knuckles will do with that kind of money.

Winning a lottery is about the luck of the draw. It is not about deserving anything. If winning was conditional of the morality of the individual, who decides who is deserving? And, if it is decided, for whatever reason, that a winner does not deserve to win, do they get a refund of the ticket price?

If lottery players were required to prove that they deserved to win, it would no longer be a lottery.

I just wish Dave and Angela would stop talking to the media, and start talking to a reputable, independent financial planner, before they make any decisions on how to spend their new wealth. As of now, they look like a train wreck waiting to happen.

Thank you so much, myturn, for your response on buying Euromillions online. I guess from your answer that you have to be in a European country and have an address in that country to play Euromillions online. This would mean that one cannot play being in the US? Has any LP member who lives in the US ever played the Euromillions? Your answer would be most welcome.
