Powerball

Powerball's biggest cash value in 5 years

Powerball's biggest jackpot in 18 months — $254.2 million — was up for grabs Wednesday night.

It was won by a single ticket sold in Connecticut that matched all the numbers drawn: 12, 14, 34, 39, and 46, with Powerball number 36.  The Power Play number was 4.

The cash prize, about $150 million, was the biggest in five years.

Just missing, by failing to match only the Powerball, were tickets in a dozen states. One in Arkansas is worth $1 million for matching five numbers while having the Power Play multiplier option. Winning $200,000 were four Florida tickets, three each in New York and Illinois, two in Ohio, and one each in Georgia, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, New Mexico, and Wisconsin.

The jackpot goes back to $20 million for Saturday night's drawing.

It's still the biggest jackpot around, however, because Mega Millions rebooted Tuesday night, after a single ticket purchased in Paso Robles, Calif., matched all the numbers drawn: 27, 31, 39, 40, and 46, with Mega Ball number 36.

The annuity jackpot was worth $78 million.

In the Mega Millions drawing, one Texas ticket won $1 million by matching the first five numbers, while having the Megaplier multiplier option. Also matching five were two tickets sold in Ohio, another two in Kentucky, and one each in New York and Arizona. Each won at least $250,000.

The same night, a Philadelphia ticket hit for $225,000 in the Pennsylvania Lottery's Cash 5 drawing. Sold at the Adams Beer Distributor at Adams and Howland Streets in the city's Crescentville section, it matched all five of the numbers: 5, 9, 35, 36, and 41.

A $475,000 Pennsylvanie Cash 5 jackpot was hit Sunday in Wilkes-Barre. The place of purchase was a Mini Mart at 94 S. Pennsylvania Ave. The ticket was the only one in the state with all the numbers: 4, 6, 20, 23, and 30.

After shedding enough tears to soak my carpet, I decided to dust  myself off. Cheer up everyone, there might likely be another huge Powerball rollover, just right before Christmas, now THAT would be a wonderful way to celebrate the season and the coming new year.........

    GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

I am glad it went to a small state that do not win jackpots as often, even though connecticut rank 3rd in the country per household income!ROFL

Im happy for whomever the winner(s) are.  However, I cant get but so happy about Conn. being the state.  That is Hedge Fund Capital USA, and I know many of those fat cat wall streeters with their million dollar annual bonuses play the lottery also, which is their right.  But I dont even want to think about a multi-millionaire winning a Jackpot that big!   But hey, I'll keep trying, my boat will come in soon.

Just curious, why do 90% or so of your posts always ask the same queston?

In almost every post, you say something along the lines of "you think someone from lottery post hit the jackpot this time?"...or "do you think the winner of last nights win is a poster on here?"

Are you hoping someone did, so you can pitch some kind of business proposal to them?

I'm surprised to hear some here say they hope it didn't go to some person who is filthy rich already.

Don't George Soros and Michael Moore and Al Gore and John Kerry and Mayor Bloomberg and John Corzine and all the Hollywood Celebrities deserve to throw another quarter billion on the pile if they bought a ticket?

Just wanted to say that there are some really poor areas of Connecticut.  One of the very odd things to me is that of the poor areas ..alot of the seam to be in the rundown areas of factorys that help win WWII.........CT is a very beautifull state with its high taxes but, again it has its share of slum areas...Anyway  best of luck and congrats to the winner

I'm sorry about asking the same question. I think Todd said someone from here hit last night Powerball jackpot. He post his name on here. I think he was joking around. You never know.
