UK National LotteryUK National Lottery: Struggling UK family facing a bright future after lottery win

Rating:

A young family on the verge of losing everything have scooped a £5.8 million (US$8.9 million) lottery fortune.

Tracy Tyler, 37, and Adam Young, 30, from Epping, in the County of Essex, England, were struggling to make ends meet this time last week, after Mr. Young lost his job in June.

On Saturday night they paused the television program they were watching, as they do every week, to check their lottery ticket.

One-by-one, mother-of-two Miss Tyler circled the numbers, before looking up in disbelief and telling her partner that they had hit the jackpot.

She said: "I was circling the numbers and I had to keep checking.

"I told him that I had all six numbers and he just said, yeah on how many lines?

"I phoned my mum and she just screamed down the phone."

The ecstatic couple were the only winners of Saturday's jackpot, bagging themselves a whopping £5,819,806.

Before the win, Mr. Young was desperately hunting for employment after losing his job at Medlock Electrical Distributors in Waltham Cross.

He said: "It is every man's worst nightmare — not being able to provide for his family.

"Worrying about being able to pay the rent and which bill was going to come through the door next.

"I joined lots of agencies. I was sending CVs off, every single day.

"It was probably a matter of weeks before we were going to have to start asking people for help.

"This just doesn't happen to people like us."

The 30-year-old, originally from Lincolnshire, is about to trade in his X reg Citroen for a brand new Range Rover Vogue.

However, apart from splashing out on a dream car and looking for a five bedroom house in Epping, Miss Tyler says that they do not have any extravagant plans for the money.

"He's never been abroad so it would be nice to have a holiday," she added.

"I've always wanted to go on safari, so maybe a trip to Kenya.

"The kids haven't asked for anything, just a big garden for them to run around in.

"All my family live here and the kids go to school here so we are going to stay.

"I am still shell shocked. It doesn't seem real at all."

Miss Tyler and Mr. Young, who have two young children, a girl aged six and a boy of four, play the lottery every week.

Miss Tyler bought the winning lucky dip from Tesco in Edinburgh Way, Harlow.

She said: "Even if it was the last four pounds in my purse, I would buy my lottery tickets, just in case.

"We've already got our ticket for this weekend."

Very lucky for them. The win came at the right time.

I Agree! And avoid hosting too many wild parties featuring drugs and adult entertainers.

Good on them for thinking of traveling to Africa first...the Maasai Mara is calling their name! They might also want to consider visiting Rwanda, Zambia, Uganda, South Africa, Ghana, and Tanzania.

Establishing a spending plan (budget) is the key to not ending up 'happily' working at cookie factory!

Get MONEY!!! Winning a JACKPOT lottery is all the HOPE and CHANGE I desire!!!  NOW give me MONEY!US Flag

The guy who won the presidency in 2008 really won the lottery...he is now millions richer, travels in first class style, and even has a staff that would be the envy of the richest Powerball winner (she has a staff of 2). Every night he goes to sleep, he probably plays the close of Dave Chappelle's Show: I'm rich beyatch!

don't understand the fascination of going to africa where anything could happen to you and no one would care (in africa). the guy has never been abroad. what is it 28 miles to france from england. commend them for staying in their home town to live, but i would double think about scuttling the africa trip. i would rather go to oklahoma city during tornado season than trying to fend off lion and tiger attacks and the locals with spears.
