Winnings from a Georgia Lottery ticket are under dispute as two people and state child support officials have laid claim to the $25,000 prize.

Through the state Attorney General's Office, Georgia Lottery Corp. officials have asked a Fulton County Superior Court judge to make a decision.

In October 2013, Angel R. Tamayo Jr. presented a winning "Loteria" ticket to lottery officials only to be informed that he owed more than $17,250 — the after-tax amount of the cash prize — in child support back pay to the state Department of Human Services, according to legal documents.

As a result, Tamayo wouldn't get any of the money, according to court records and state law.

But Tracey Dawn Gibson claims she is the rightful winner of the "Loteria" ticket, and is entitled to the $25,000 prize, according to court documents. Records do not spell out how Gibson and Tamayo are related.

Lottery officials, as a result, filed a "complaint for interpleader," requesting that the court hold the money and "resolve all issues necessary and proper to determine the rights of the defendants," according to the court filing.

Did she claim the prize was hers after Angel found out he had to pay his child support?

Bait and switch?

I hope his children see every penny.

If he is responsible for fathering any child, he better pay up. If his woman was dilly-dallying around, he better get a paternity test. Either way, he is not gonna be seeing much of that money.

Funny, isn't it, how time and time again these losers show their true colors? Amassing $17k in back support shows

he's just another deadbeat. Winning enough to pay it off, discovering the state will take it and then having someone

else come forth to put a claim on the money proves he's a lifetime deadbeat. The Gibson girl is totally relevant to him..

girlfriend, relative, sucker...she's just a pawn too and doesn't realize it yet. Let them have each other..w/o the $25k.

Give it to the kids!

What is it we said the other day? You stand a better chance of winning if you can't manage your money, have some kind of drug/alcohol addiction or if you're a deadbeat dad. Case in point.

NY has the same law.  Any lottery winnings claimed are subject to an audit of owed debts including child support, taxes, welfare repayment, etc.

Most winners who don't owe any debts are not aware of this law.  They concentrate on looking for someone to cash in their winner so they can avoid

paying taxes.  They will ask an older person on social security or a younger person who is collecting disability to pretend to be the winner and  they

will get paid a piece of the winnings.  They think it is a win win situation until the state lottery processes the winning ticket and looks up the old debts

on the winner claiming it.  That person is also unaware that the back child support or old debts they owe are collected in this way.  When they find this

out neither party is too happy.  It is like the player got played.  They tried to scam and it back fired on them.  So winners beware.  When you win, do

the right thing and claim it yourself.  Pay your taxes and pay off your old debts.  If you look to scam don't pick a loser deadbeat dad who won't pay to

feed his kids.  I am glad they got caught.

Very sad. No money for his child but plenty to spend on the lottery.

I read that he had a parole violation back in 2012. He has two sexual assault convictions including one with a minor.

Pretty hard to make any money when you spend time behind bars.

Well, the last time a sex offender won the lottery he got the crap beat out of him. Here's hoping...

Shelby Mustang

Im wondering who actually signed the ticket, or did the both of them sign it? Why was he the only one there to claim it then, if that is so? Weird. I dont think he will see any of it.

Give the mom and kids the money.

Lock up Angel Tomato for 10-15 and then deport him when he gets out.

Lock up his lying girlfriend accomplice for 5-10.

And what is a "Loteria" ticket anyway?

Right. Because if he has a Hispanic name and owes child support you don't have to be an ignorant bigot to know he's not a legal resident.
