If he was concerned about future employment he'd still be working. If he wants an engineering job down the road his years of not working will matter far more than  the fact that he once quit his job.

Of course, you apparently know far more about his emplyment situation than I do, so perhaps you'd share the relevant details about the important project that will go unfinished because he abandoned it.

lol You must not be employed. Quitting a job is seen as just as bad or worse as not working for years. Too difficult to explain a professional career to one who is clueless. I know a couple of us tried to explain it to you.

      I Agree!

Anyone with an engineering degree should be miles ahead of most people financially anyway. I do suspect this couple does not make the best decisions in that area. I could be totally wrong, but having worked with engineers in several of my positions over the years, I know they make good money. Down to brass tacks, this could mean that at only 49 yrs old, that $35m +/- net could be gone in a few short, fun filled, spendy years. The article does not mention children or other family, so maybe there is not a need for generational wealth.

      I hope I'm wrong.

As to quitting so quickly... First, I'd have to know when the funds are in my accounts and available. The drawing was only a week ago... they're not going to see any money for another couple weeks. If you want to walk off your job so quickly, that is fine, but it's not for me. Second, out of respect for my personal and professional reputation, AND those coworkers that I have respect for, I'd have to give enough notice to train people to do my work responsibilities. I've inherited work from people who left, without training, and it is not fun figuring things out. Actually the article does not say he walked off the job, just that he has quit... maybe he has given notice and has another week or more on the job.

      I agree!

          13, 28, 31, 55, 58, and the Powerball was 15

Those are respectable QP numbers. You got the nice 3 Odd numbers, 2 Even numbers. Also, 2 Low numbers, 3 High numbers. 4 separate "decade groups." 2 numbers sharing the same one's place (28 & 58). No multiples. No previous drawing repeats. Perfect set of numbers I'd like to play. But how come anytime I play QP, my numbers are like 39-49-55-57-59?!?! NOT FAIR!!!! Crying  lol

          ...Someone's going to win eventually...

          ...Never know, could be me...

I can see how you might think that if you actually had HR experience and it came from 1962, but you've obviously got no clue about how the world works today. Only 10% of people as old as this guy have had fewer than 5 jobs and only incompetent HR people will have an issue simply because prospective employees have quit previous jobs. Assuming this guy's competent (and that he'd ever be interested in working for somebody else again) it's a sfe bet that he wouldn't want to work for employers that are that  stupid. The only thing that matters to the competent HR people is how frequently somebody has quit a job and why they quit, and this guy's reason is about the equivalent of quiting to take a better job.

And, of course, you know just as much about my employment situation as you do about his, which is nothing.

I don't know anything about your employment either, Jelly Man.

But you certainly sound like a frustrated telemarketer or perhaps the office receptionist/know-it-all?

                  I'm thinking H&R Block perhaps?

Excuse me if my office terminology is off but I worked in the building trades with men.

lol You hit the nail on the head Ridge. I can see why Jellyman is so "popular." I can see how HR experience from "1962" is a big plus in today's world! I guess he does not realize that today, HR has even more control over positions than years ago.
