What's happened to the Ohio Lotto--current version this 'Classic Lotto'-- is criminal.

Previous versions of this game started at $4 mil, and increased $4 mil with each draw. There were winners at least every 2-3 weeks, with payouts ranging from the base $4 mil to $30 mil or more.

Real, life-changing money. No, not the eye-popping amounts MM and PB flaunt. Not the buy-a-fleet-of-luxury cars money or five-vacation-homes-in-paradise-money, but enough for most people of any age to retire and enjoy a carefree life from financial concerns.

When the national lottos became available with their gaudy, over-the-top jackpots, the state lotto withered to a shell of its former self. No winner in over two years---beyond ridiculous.

No winner Sat. night, so another rollover to $66.8 mil. Jokefest.

When the national lottos became available with their gaudy, over-the-top jackpots, the state lotto withered to a shell of its former self.

Ohio is not the only state where this has happened.  New York's Lotto has been all but killed by the onset of the national games.  It used to start at either $2M or $3M (IIRC, which one depended on whether the first drawing was on a Wednesday or a Saturday) and would roll over by at least that much.  I don't remember how much the payouts usually were, but I'm pretty sure they were a lot better than they are now.  I think they would usually get into the 20s at the very least.  These days, the base jackpot is always $2M and the rollover is a paltry $300K.  I noticed during the last couple of big runs that the rollover would increase to $400K or $500K as the jackpot approached and broke $10M, as long as sales were enough to warrant it.  Typically someone wins before it hits $10M, but runs that top out over that are not unheard of.

This game has an EV after taxes of almost 2.00 that is money won after lump and taxes vs odds.

This is a jackpot that should be played by all those in Ohio instead of PB or MM. I am shocked

that this lottery only averages a few hundred thousand per draw.

I am going to Ohio before Easter. I think it is time to get a lottery post syndicate together

to bring this baby down! 5 of us $100 each. Who is in?

Do you think you can do better than all the predictors on the prediction board?  There are nearly 500 predictions on the prediction board for Classic Lotto for every drawing which usually result in less than ten lines matching three.  One predictor matched four the last drawing which was very unusual.

Way to go qutgnt. Put your money on the Ohio Classic Lotto instead of the PB or MM.

The year is still young and it's due for a hit in 2014.

I can't believe the low interest in this game. I bought 3 QP's picks for 10 draws which was the maximum allowed. I am now down to 6 draws and will be getting another 10-draws if no one wins in the next 2-weeks. I won't even waste a dollar on MM at this point but may start playing PB if it continues to rise.

Completely agree. People chase the insane odds of PB and MM because of the jackpots, competing with people in dozens of other states. If the Ohio Lotto were like the old days, I'd never buy another PB or MM ticket---ever. And yes, I've got 5 Classic tickets for tonight's draw.

People can post predictions till the cows come home. It is a random game. If anyone actually made money "predicting" the lotteries

wouldn't exist. The only smart way to play the lottery is to play games where the EV is greater than one. To play numbers and combos

that are not going to be likely copied by the birthday crowd so if you do win you increase the likelihood of you pool swooping. Of course

there is no guarantee but people need to play smart. Why people play games like Pick 4 where when you win you are winning after taxes about

35 cents on the dollar is absurd. You are better off playing roulette and trying to hit 2-3 numbers straight as you parlay.

In any event this is the lottery to go for. Pools win the most because pools have the most tickets. They usually quick pick it which I am not opposed to. Just hate to get the quick pick set where all six numbers are under 30 cause usually some else

              is playing that set.

Again I am going to Ohio for Easter. 5 of us put $100 in. Will photocopy and email tickets and let you know where they were

              bought.

All the best to those that go after this. If you are in OH stay away from the pick 4 or the pick 5 and the MM and PB. Play this

as EV is nice. (Maybe play the 5 out of 39 game only when jackpot is above $500k, where EV is about 1 with lower tier payouts!)

                    Yep! it rolled again.

When comparing the OCL to MM or PB based strictly on odds then it's absurd to play anything else. OCL has odds of 14 million to one thereby making the cash payout ($33.5 million) worth almost 2.5 times the odds value.

MM would need a jackpot of over $1.2 billion with a cash option of over $650 million to be comparable in terms of odds. Can't speak for anyone else but $33.5 million cash before taxes is more than enough to satisfy any lottery dream I may have.

Buy an airplane ticket to Ohio.

It's only 394 miles from the Bronx to Youngstown Ohio straight out Route 80.

                              You oughta do it.
