currently, to buy tickets online in illinois, you have to be on your home computer with fixed internet connection (cable, dsl, etc) so they (illinois lottery) can see your IP and know you are in illinois.  if you use your mobile device, you have to turn on the tracking so they can see that you are within the state lines.

you can buy daily tickets online for the Illinois Lotto, Mega Millions and Powerball.  LuckyDay which is a Illinois only twice a day drawing, tickets can only be purchased online for this as a minimum two week purchase (at two drawings a day).  there is currently no availability to purchase pick 3 or pick 4 tickets.

Scratchoffs would be amazing, but i agree with some posters - this would drive people into bankruptcy.  although, i believe the bankpuptcy laws have changed, you cannot just rack up thousands on a credit card and then file BK and be out of it.  i may be wrong, but i thought they changed that a few years ago - you are still on the hook for the money, they just figure out payment plans...

you can use debit or credit cards.  in my eyes, debit only should be used (since it comes out directly and the money has to be there to begin with) otherwise, too many people are going to get underwater too fast...

i like it, if i forget to get my tickets on the way home or im running late, i can pop on and buy them up to 30 minutes before the drawing.

i do prefer buying from a store though - my luck has always been better with physical tickets.

Thanks for your perspective as an Illinois resident and player.

        Just a few questions:

there is currently no availability to purchase pick 3 or pick 4 tickets.

Would you support the online lottery if they did offer pick 3/4 play? That's apparently what's coming next. Would you support them increasing the frequency of daily games to 4 times a day, or every hour, or every 5 minutes?

        Scratchoffs would be amazing,

Would you play online Scratchoffs if they didn't mimick the packs, selection, ticket numbers and minimum pack values of physical games? What if they went to a Random Number Generator instead of a predetermined schedule and amount of winners?

I would not play scratch games if they turned into the equivalent of a online slot machine. For that matter, why should the state lottery be allowed to have a monopoly gambling operation (Northstar) for lottery gaming instead of allowing competition among casinos in the private marketplace? And I would rather play at casino payouts of 90-95% instead of lottery 50-60% payouts with the built-in heavy tax burden.

Thanks Ice Man on the info regarding online purchases restricted to within  the state lines of Illinois . That makes sense to me.

maybe they could add some math quizzes  you have to complete  before you're allowed to buy a ticket.
