Multi-state Lucky for Life game comes to Kentucky

Lucky for LifeLucky for Life: Multi-state Lucky for Life game comes to Kentucky

Rating:

Now available in 15 states plus D.C.

The Kentucky Lottery is now offering the multi-state game called Lucky for Life that has a top prize of $1,000 a day, every day, for the rest of the winner's life, or for a minimum of 20 years paid to the player's estate, in case of death.

Tickets for the game, which is structured similar to the popular, high-jackpot Powerball game, went on sale Sunday throughout Kentucky.

Lucky for Life tickets sell for $2 each, with drawings on Monday and Thursday evenings. In the drawing, five numbers are chosen at random from a set of 48 and one ball, the Lucky Ball, is drawn from a set of 18.

Kentucky Lottery spokesman Chip Polston said the odds of matching all six numbers are about one in 30.8 million. There is a one-time cash option available of $5.75 million.

A second prize for matching just the first five numbers, but not the Lucky Ball, is $25,000 a year — also for the winner's life, or for a minimum of 20 years paid to the player's estate, in case of death, Polston said.

In addition to the top prize and second prize, there are eight other cash prizes players can win by matching numbers drawn.

Arch Gleason, the Kentucky Lottery president and CEO, said, "Players always have a question about games like this. They want to know if we keep the money, if something happens to them shortly after their win. Lucky for Life has a minimum 20-year payment for the first and second prizes, if a player passes away, and those continued payments would go to a winner's estate."

The Lucky for Life drawings on Monday and Thursday nights will be at 10:35 Eastern time, and the winning numbers are published on Lottery Post's Kentucky Lottery Results page minutes after the draw.

Lucky for Life, which started as a New England game, is now sold in 15 states plus the District of Columbia.

The Kentucky Lottery has earned $4.2 billion for the Kentucky state treasury since 1989. Most of the lottery dividends go to support college scholarships, education grants and literacy programs.

FYI. Just in case that anyone thinks the LP is not monitored by lottery officials, here's your proof...

I called the KLC this afternoon inquiring if the Gemini machines would get upgraded by replacing the Monopoly Millionaires Club slot with this.  She said they would be upgraded this week for this.

Bought two tickets, wish me luck LP members!

This game can brag at producing the fewest top prize winners in the country. The last time someone won the $1,000 A WEEK DAY FOR LIFE prize was in draw # 148 on 08/12/2013. Welcome abroad KY players!

      That money's gone fo ever

It makes me LOL to see you write that LP is being "monitored".  LOL!

News flash:  Lots of people in the lottery industry read Lottery Post every day.  Why wouldn't they?  To say it's "monitoring" is funny.  How about the 10,000 other people reading this news story?  Are they also "monitoring" the story, or are they simply "reading" it?

Thank goodness people in the industry care enough about what lottery players are talking about to take an interest in it.

Todd, i did not realize that industry folks look into LP everyday. It can mean a good thing and to some posters it can mean a bad thing. When he said monitored he probably meant something like the RNGs being monitored by the industry folks. As if they know what numbers are being used. I assume that is not actually happening.

this game hasn't really enjoyed robust sales in the states in which it is offered. reason: although the 1000 a day sounds good it isn't the payday most are looking for. they want 100 million plus immediately rather than getting it slowly, very slowly in comparison. at 2.00 a ticket the masses give up after a few losing draws. it's a decent prize and no one knows how they pay it out. do you get a check every week or once a month or when and how much. it would be nice to watch your bank account grow at  4000 a week taxes off the top of course, but that's too slow for the greedy players that exist today. it also isn't for older players as they will never reap enough before their final disappointment. leaving it in your estate doesn't resonate well either. pass and stick to powerball  kentuckyians or mega whichever you have there.

By "monitored" I meant that they may be observing which players may have successful systems or methods. They do want us to win, but maybe not too much... Wink  Not that anyone here is going to "crack the code" anytime soon, but I bet they would be very interested if they thought someone was getting close.

Besides, why do they make the odds of winning harder by increasing the amount of numbers in the games? MM and PB specifically. The 175 million to one wasn't bad enough as it is, they have to make it more difficult by adding more numbers?

The jackpot and 2nd prize both have cash options.  The top prize cash is $5,750,000.00 which would be well worth it to me.  Second prize is only $390,000.00 cash, but if I were to win I'd probably still take the cash at this stage in life.

I gather lottery data myself for study using a couple of methods and having the numbers in draw order is better.

I would like to see this game come to Texas. Here they have had scratch tickets like weekly grand etc already.

Your comment assumes that the lottery is crooked.  Because if they could somehow create a tally of numbers being posted by people here, what use would that be to them?  To beg and plead with the spinning ball hopper machines to pretty-please not draw those numbers?  Or are you suggesting that they can (like a magician) make the balls come out the way they choose?

And if you feel that way, why on Earth would you play a crooked game???!!!

On your MM/PB question, it's all about mathematics.  They have some pretty smart people who develop the game matrices in a way that balances the amount of tickets played with the expected number of times that it will be won.  They don't need to resort to "rigging the drawings" or anything else that would put them in jail, they simply design the games to be mathematically a certain way.  Sometimes people win more, sometimes less.

Funny, this was the FIRST question I had when I saw this - WHEN is the last time ANYONE hit the jackpot???

I am only going to play again when I hit on other games and then I am playing with WON money - so just for fun.
