SEATTLE, Wa. — Among a list of things you shouldn't leave in your car, a winning lottery ticket tops the charts.
Thankfully, for one Seattle couple, luck does strike twice.
The couple left a $1 Million Powerball ticket in their car for three months before realizing its worth.
They purchased the ticket from Iman's (2804 NW Market St) in Seattle on February 10 for the February 11 $500 million jackpot drawing, and didn't check it right away. "We didn't even think about a second chance prize," the couple shared.
Washington's newest millionaires were shocked on May 14 when they checked the ticket online and realized they won.
They told Lottery officials they could have lost it. "Someone broke into our car a few weeks ago and stole a pair of sunglasses. The stolen sunglasses were actually sitting atop the winning ticket. What a close call!"
Now that the winnings are safely in their possession, they've made some fun plans for the future. "Well, we already popped a bottle of champagne! We're also planning a trip to Paris and Iceland for this year. Other than that, I think we'll just take care of our house."
How Lucky can you be ? They should buy some more Lottery products. I think that they will enjoy Iceland and Paris,France.
Great story, thanks Todd.
Amazing how major turn of events in our lives can hinge on one chance encounter!
Why bother buying a ticket if you are not even gonna check it for three freaking months?. Too rich already?.
These "I didn't know I had a winning ticket" stories keep getting more elaborate.
wow! nice story. I wish them all the happiness imaginable with their winnings.
wow
This is a nice story with a happy ending after being violated by common thief.
I wish the lucky couple well..
Great another face palmy type of story from the onion.
Another revelation: a lottery office writes a press release for a positive winner story and doesn't use the winners' names. What is the world coming to?
I'm starting to believe that those who don't check their tickets or are a little careless where they place them are the ones that win big.
Glad the thief didn't grab the ticket congratulations to the winners
, dallascowboyfan!
