SEATTLE, Wa. — Among a list of things you shouldn't leave in your car, a winning lottery ticket tops the charts.

Thankfully, for one Seattle couple, luck does strike twice.

The couple left a $1 Million Powerball ticket in their car for three months before realizing its worth.

They purchased the ticket from Iman's (2804 NW Market St) in Seattle on February 10 for the February 11 $500 million jackpot drawing, and didn't check it right away. "We didn't even think about a second chance prize," the couple shared.

Washington's newest millionaires were shocked on May 14 when they checked the ticket online and realized they won.

They told Lottery officials they could have lost it. "Someone broke into our car a few weeks ago and stole a pair of sunglasses. The stolen sunglasses were actually sitting atop the winning ticket. What a close call!"

Now that the winnings are safely in their possession, they've made some fun plans for the future. "Well, we already popped a bottle of champagne! We're also planning a trip to Paris and Iceland for this year. Other than that, I think we'll just take care of our house."

These "I didn't know I had a winning ticket" stories keep getting more elaborate.

Great another face palmy type of  story from the onion.

Another revelation: a lottery office writes a press release for a positive winner story and doesn't use the winners' names. What is the world coming to?

I'm starting to believe that those who don't check their tickets or are a little careless where they place them are the ones that win big.
