Glad to see that Tony did not throw away his ticket based of the comment from the bartender.

Wonder how many big winning tickets have been sold by the 7-11 Stores?

Congrats to the Perosi family.

I wonder how that bartender feels knowing that he told his BS tale to the actual winners.  I always wondered why some people feel they have to make up BS to give the impression that they are well informed.

Do you think the father gave the lifetime 5mil$ and deducted that from the share?

He probably would have had to claim the whole jackpot as his first and then gave his son some money.  As they claimed it as equal partners, he probably couldn't.

            Wonderful story!!!!

Every story of someone claiming a jackpot and not fighting with family, relatives or co-workers about its ownership is a wonderful story.

I agree.  I am glad that the father and son have a good relationship.

Anybody know how that works, him splitting it with his son? What are the tax implications?

The tax implications depend on whether or not the IRS thinks the guy gave his son a huge gift or that they had a pre-existing agreement to share. If the IRS thinks he gave his son a gift of $25 million they're going to want him to pay gift taxes on about $20 million.

The story doesn't really say anything one way or the other about a pre-existing agreement. The amounts listed in the article are rounded, and the son's share was actually an even 30%, so a pre-existing agreement is certainly possible. It's still a safe bet that the IRS will be looking for evidence one way or the other.
