'Lottery Places' supported on all major mobile devices

For the first time lottery players have a simple way to find a store to buy lottery tickets no matter where they are.

Lottery Places, a new mobile app available on iPhone, Android, and Windows Phone, finds your current location and instantly displays the nearest lottery retailers.

As the on-screen map is panned and zoomed with common gestures, additional lottery retailers are found and displayed in real-time. Touching a retailer reveals more information about the store's location and services, and one button-press displays driving directions to the retailer.

What makes Lottery Places unique is its ability to find retailers across state and country borders, all in one app. Before today lottery players would have to visit individual government lottery websites, each of which uses a different and sometimes confusing method of finding lottery retailers, and only in one state or country at a time.

In the United States alone, the Lottery Places app replaces the need to visit 45 separate government lottery websites and apps to find lottery retailers throughout the country.

Best of all, the app is completely free, with no time trials, pro-level versions, or in-app purchases required. All of the features are available to everyone for free.

"Lottery Places solves a real problem that everyone experiences at one time or another: how to find a nearby store that sells lottery tickets," explained Todd Northrop, creator of Lottery Places.

"Whether you're at home, at work, traveling, or on vacation, open up Lottery Places and instantly see all the closest lottery retailers," Northrop said. "Because the app is free to use forever and it is available on all three major mobile platforms, it truly is an essential app that no lottery player — indeed no mobile user — should be without."

Lottery Places launched today on all three major mobile platforms: iPhone, Android, and Windows Phone. And because the Windows Phone app is actually a Windows universal app, it also works on all desktops, laptops, and tablets running Windows 8 or higher.

In addition to finding lottery retailers near your current location, Lottery Places can also locate retailers in any other location using the search feature. Just type a full or partial address and the app will pinpoint the location on the map and instantly locate the nearest lottery retailers. Driving directions can be displayed either from your current GPS location or the search location you entered.

"If you know you're making a stopover you can see if the airport has a lottery retailer," Northrop suggested. "Or maybe you're visiting a friend and you want to check for nearby store locations. In practically any scenario, Lottery Places can find the nearest lottery retailers."

Advanced map features, such a traffic reports and satellite views, are included to help determine an ideal lottery retailer to visit.

Also included in the app is the ability to report any problems that might be found with particular retailers. For example, if the phone number is listed incorrectly on a retailer, the app user can press the Report Error button to instantly send a note directly to the app's developers to fix the problem.

The Lottery Places website (www.lotteryplaces.com) includes more information about the app, as well as app store buttons to instantly download the app for free.

Lottery Places is available today for free download.

    About Lottery Places

Lottery Places was created by Todd Northrop, the founder of Speednet Group and the developer of Lottery Post (www.lotterypost.com), the world's most popular website for lottery players. For over 15 years, Mr. Northrop has been inventing and developing lottery-related websites, books and apps, providing accurate, player-friendly information and interactivity for lottery players worldwide.

Great app, Todd. I'll download it tonight. It will come in handy when I'm traveling. It will make it easier to locate a lottery retailer near the Interstate, with out going totally into a town searching.

I think we've all needed this at one time or another -- myself included.

Thanks for the feedback (noise-gate, got your private feedback too, thanks).

Please be sure to also post a review on the App Store/Play Store -- that helps more than anything.  Thanks!!

I've never had a need to find a place to play lottery.  I will look at app to see what else it can do.

I noticed it won't let you save (yellow star)the destination which is strange. Doesn't matter. Usually save the addresses in my gps anyways.

Todd, I need your to build an app for me. Similar to this lottery place.  Instead of lottery I want it to be liquor stores.  How easy would it be for you to do this with the technology you already have built over the last 8 years.       Inbox me pls

Fantastic!  Very glad to hear you like it.  Please be sure to post a review on the app store! Thumbs Up

On the Apple App Store you write a review by pressing the Review tab (the center of the three tabs), and then press "Write a Review".

On the Google Play Store you write a review by scrolling down until you see the stars, then press then number of stars to rate the app, and that opens the review panel.

                Thanks!!

One thing I agree with you. Great idea and most liquor stores have terminals.

After I saw that posted earlier, I did a quick search and found quite a few "liquor store finder" apps.  Some are better than others, according to the reviews.  There are also websites that provide the same service;  I used this one and it showed every pkg. store in my relatively small town with only one mistake, including a bar.

Personally speaking don't need an app to locate a lottery dealer cause retail lottery dealers  are ubiquitous in NJ.

I could have used something like this when I was in Portland in a few weeks ago. I usually try to buy tickets when I'm in another state, but wasn't able to find a place this time.
