From what I understand from the article, he was the drug dealer not her.  I don't agree with the State.  What if your brother was a drug dealer and you won some money in the lottery?  Could the State take it saying you could have bought the ticket using your brothers money?  I'm one who thinks that the government; from time to time, oversteps its authority.

.

Thank you for that, and I truly agree.

  • Don't chase the numbers you play.
  • Play only numbers you've already played, plus however many random picks.
  • But, ALWAYS the regular numbers you play.  This will make you a winner, not a chaser.
(so far, though, I've yet to win any significant lotto prize)

Thumbs UpFANTASTIC video. Nobody is really safe from this crap. They can make up any excuse they feel like and fabricate any charges , to suit their purpose, regardless of it being real or imagined.

I am not siding with the drug dealer or his girlfriend but it seems cops will use any excuse to seize property or cash. Having no job and being a known drug dealer to law enforcement just made it easier for the investigators to seek forfeiture.

They said the boyfriend bought the ticket and she didn't dispute that at first until she realized the state could keep the money.  I think the state was right.

If you lived with your brother and he bought the ticket, then I think they should take the money even if you tried to cash in the ticket.  Drug money most likely bought it.

He bought a $3.00 scratch off ticket. If he has any other kind of income from employment or whatever, then it isn't "mostly likely" that he bought the ticket with drug money. The local police dept. must have wanted a new Expedition.

After watching that video, it seems to me like the cops are the biggest crooks if they can take your property just because you happen to carry cash in your pocket. Whatever happened to, to protect and to serve? I guess it's hard for them to believe that not everyone who has money is a criminal.

The innocence project has freed many falsely accused and convicted defendants.

While the innocent is in jail then the real criminal is still committing crimes.

How much income would one have to have to purchase a $3.00 lottery ticket ? One would assume that something was most likely purchased with drug money if it was a major purchase not a $3.00 ticket. That's just GREED by Law Enforcement and the District and State Attorney's are all involved in this criminal behavior. Someone could give a person a few buck including family or friends.

Buy legal tickets with illegal money. You might just create 60%+  net washed money.
100 illegal =+/- 60 legal with pick 3 and no sweat.

I am going to get political, (sorry)  does anyone disagree that we live under a different set of laws than the politicos who get literally millions of dollars,  give away state secrets, get immunity,  and are free to do it again???????????  You know what I mean Vern????  This has to end,  the government has become fascist,  especially in the blue states like Illinois.

This sounds like a money grab by the cops, plain and simple.  It's her name on the claim form, not the drug dealer's.  I bet she was on the video purchasing the ticket, otherwise they would have used the video to prove it was his.  Seems to me the cops learned about the ticket somehow and saw dollar signs flashing in front of their eyes.  So they made up a story that the drug dealer said it was his so they could seize it.  Cops lie all the time when it suits their purposes.

For 50K?  And the money goes back to the lottery??  50K ain't squat,  they just wanted to exercise absolute power and punish her just as fascists have done throughout history.  Let me give you another example,  the government now requires you to buy something or they step on you with the IRS,  is that fair?  You buy lottery tickets which goes to the govts. coffers..... right?  Your number don't come out,  they keep the money,  you play that number for 2 years,  and you have a fat hit,   they then tax you on it?  After all the money you lost to the kitty?  Granted you can deduct at the end of the year up to the amount you won but you better have receipts and if it was more than the receipts..........so sorry.
