One lucky Wisconsin resident claimed a $5.9 million Megabucks jackpot Friday, the Wisconsin Lottery has announced.

Matthew Neal of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, came forward to claim his prize from the January 16 drawing, according to a press release from the Wisconsin Lottery. He had 180 days to claim the prize.

With the claim deadline of July 15 approaching, people were beginning to wonder if the prize would be lost.

Neal bought the winning ticket at the Kwik Trip at 625 South Taylor Drive in Sheboygan.

The winning numbers were 1, 5, 28, 29, 37, and 44.

The $5.9 million jackpot is the largest Megabucks prize won since 2015 and the odds of winning the Megabucks jackpot are 1 in 6,991,908.

I worked in Sheboygan for a while and always bought my lottery tickets at that kwik trip.  I wonder why he waited so long.

I think he waited for the hoopla to die down, but now everyone will see him and his name as the guy who waited so long to cash in his million dollar ticket

Maybe the winner was hoping for Wisconsin to allow winners to remain anonymous but tome ran out.

Now on their website it has the first name and last initial sans photograph.   Like another poster said earlier now he is famous because first and last name were reported on.    Maybe he shouldn't have waited so long....

Megabuck is a computer RNG game and lottery security was probably expecting an elderly NY lawyer to show up in the final hour to claim on behalf a Belize trust.
