A family of four new draw games coming to Wyoming

By Kate Northrop

The Wyoming Lottery announced the upcoming launch of Pistol Picks: a family of four different draw games that offers Wyoming's take on Fast Play-esque games.

In less than two weeks, Wyoming lottery players will be able to try out any of the four new Pistol Picks games, which combines the idea of a draw game with instant win elements.

Starting Sunday, Nov. 15, sales for the four new games go live. In what the Wyoming Lottery is calling its "most ambitious launch to date," each game offers a unique price point and visual design that impacts the prize amounts won.

"Tic Tac Toe" offers a maximum prize of $3,000 at $2 per play, "Bisons Wild" a $50,000 maximum prize at $5 per play, and "Jackpot USA," which offers a progressive jackpot that starts at $1 million and grows with every ticket sale at a $20 price point. There's also "$20, $50, or $100 Blowout," which the Lottery says is "packed with prizes" and the opportunity to win five times in one play. No top prize has been announced for that $10 price point.

Each game features its own type of randomly generated game board at the time of purchase, which players can ask for at any lottery retailer ticket counter.

Functionally, the Pistol Picks family of games operates similarly to most other states' Fast Play games where a ticket prints a randomly generated game board from the terminal with the results already attached, as well as price points ranging from $2 to $20 and a featured progressive jackpot.

What makes it different is that the Wyoming Lottery has also incorporated a draw element in each of these games. Every Pistol Picks ticket purchase also comes with entries to a weekly Wyoming Bonus Raffle.

For every dollar spent, players receive one entry for a chance to win $1,500 in the weekly drawing. The drawings take place every Sunday at 8:00 p.m., starting Nov. 22.

For example, a $2 "Tic Tac Toe" ticket purchase generates a separate ticket for two entries in the Weekly Wyoming Bonus Raffle, while a $20 "Jackpot USA" ticket purchase generates a separate ticket for 20 entries.

Sales for the games launch on Sunday, Nov. 15, with the first draw taking place Sunday, Nov. 22.

It's not my state, but I'd rather play Lotto American instead of Jackpot USA at $20/ticket.  The odds aren't listed on the Powerball site, but it appears they can differ based on the location the ticket is sold.   https://www.powerball.com/jackpot-usa

Disclaimer from the Powerball site:

The jackpot as shown on this website is an estimate, since its calculated from all sales from all lotteries offering the game. If the jackpot is not won, it is carried forward to the next ticket purchased by a player.

There are no drawings for this game. This site is not the final authority on games, winning numbers, or other information. All winning tickets must be validated by the lottery that sold ticket before prizes will be paid.

So, Wyoming customized this game by adding a weekly raffle.

Lotto America odds for the jackpot are pretty bad at 1 in 25,989,600, but that would be a good alternative to Powerball and Mega Millions when the jackpots got large.
