Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation

Take this $30 million, please.

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. has $30.5 million to give away, but nobody is coming forward to take the prize. The jackpot from the April 11 Super 7 draw is still unclaimed after almost six months.

It's the largest jackpot on the corporation's books ever to go without being claimed.

The winner has up to a year to claim the $30-million prize.

If it is not claimed, the money goes back into the general lottery pot for future draws, she said.

Lottery officials said the winning ticket was sold in the Brantford region, but have few other clues.

The corporation is hoping the lucky person (or persons) will come forward soon so the money won't go back into the general lottery jackpot.

"We haven't heard anything from the winner or winners. There's a potential it was a group because we know it was a single winning ticket," said Kathy Pittman, manager of the lottery corporation's prize office.

Today's Super 7 jackpot is $20 million.

"It is quite unusual with a jackpot of this size not to have heard anything from the winner in this length of time."

The winning numbers were 2, 3, 12, 27, 36, 37, 41; the bonus number was 1.

She said the corporation has done publicity in the Brantford region to try to draw the winner out, but so far no luck.

She said the lottery office has received an unusually high volume of lost ticket reports from people claiming they had bought the winning ticket.

She said all lost ticket reports are investigated, but there are security measures in place to determine whether a person legitimately had the winning ticket and might have lost it."We want to give that money (away), that's why we're here."

The largest amount to go unclaimed was a $4.5-million prize from a Lotto 6/49 draw on March 4, 1989.

The corporation waited a year, but no one claimed the prize.
