Should we feel stupid playing the lotto?
This is an interesting topic. I enjoyed it very much. I will admit I have spent quite a bit in the TN lottery since Cash 3 has came out. Number picking has become a hobby for me. I liked it so much I started playing online. As for money, I take my winnings and play back.. (what is left after buying savings bonds for the grand babies ) and I have a part time job that I use the money for entertainment use only.I work for some friends in a couple stores they own. When time gets rough for them,

how are they going to draw the new mega
Quote: Originally posted by ryanm on April 27, 2005 Remember that Powerball was thinking of going computerized. If they do, you can bet that Mega Millions will follow. People will still play even if they go computerized. As long as people lust for millions of dollars, they will not care how the numbers are drawn. I would still play even if they went computerized.I disagree. States with computerized drawings show definite signs of slower revenue growth than states without computerized dra

Maybe your question should be Why do unemployed people spend money on smoking, drinking, gambli

Why do you play the lottery games?
It's pure entertainment value.Just like playing golf, catching a show, etc. Even if I were to win, I think I'd still be playing.

** The Stupid Tax **
Calling the lottery a stupid tax is just an inflamatory statement meant to elicit some kind of reaction. But it is somewhat true: you could consider the lottery as legalized gambling with a 50% tax. For typical states, overall: 50% of revenue is paid back in prizes, 33% goes toward public benefit, and the remainder is overhead and retailer compensation. So if you play a *lot* of the lottery relative to your income, you might be stupid, knowing that this activity has a 50% tax. Or you could ju

General Pick3 / Pick4 Poll
No way, no how. It s completely different. You can t look at the time spent playing lottery the same way as the time spent with working. You can only look at it the same as in time spent. Which a lot of the time = to money spent. With work, you re spending time and getting paid for it. There s a big difference. You re guaranteed your pay with work. You are guaranteed nothing in return with lottery. Which is why they call it entertainment. Just cause they offer billion dollar jackpots doesn t cha

Winning the PB or MM jackpots
So, the pick 3 game, with odds from 1:168 to 1:1000 is okay. Dependent on the play, but at a minimum level, that's like giving someone $168 hoping, but without a guarantee, they are going to give you $80 back. This type of wager is acceptable? Why? Is it because it fits your profile of playing? That justifies spending hard earned dollars on lottery? I agree, it does. It is your decision. It is your entertainment value. However, why must you slam others who receive entertainment from other ve

Playing The Lottery Is Total Insanity.
Don't get me wrong, I respect your opinion, but personally I don't spend a few bucks as entertainment when playing a game that I know for a fact that 99% of the people playing, will never win, ever. I'll spend a few bucks on some good Whiskey for entertainment. At least I know 100% for sure I will get something out of it. Imagine I spent 40 bucks or more on whiskey and knew ahead of time that there would only be about a 1% chance I would get a buzz? Now that's insanity.
