Claiming Anonymous in California Lottery
Hello everyone, I'm new here. I already searched the forum before posting. Similar topics were already closed, so I couldn't bump or reply to them. I called the 800 number for California Lottery today and spoke to a lady. I asked if it's possible to claim a prize with a blind trust. She didn't really give me a direct answer. She said in California their obligated to disclose the winner. Ok, I understand that. But my question was about claiming it anonymous by using the trust's name. She gave

Hey guys, I forget which states you can claim the Mega Millions and Powerball anonymously. Need help
Delaware sells Powerball and allows you to remain anonymous (state law allows this). Maryland sells Megamillions and allows you to remain anonymous. However, I don't think there is a state law protecting the anonymity of winners. So if a reporter were to file a Freedom of Information Act request the winners identity may be revealed. This recently happened to a winner in Kentucky who wanted to remain anonymous.

Would you save your money and buy a large number of tickets to play in a state that allows lottery winners to remain anonymous? Read the following article before making your decision. http://www.rotten.com/library/culture/lottery-winners/

If I win, am I allowed to remain anonymous?
Illinois offers subscription tickets. I get the e-mails every night for the Little Lotto results, have been getting them for three years. In those three years I think I've seen two subscription ticket winners. If you search anonymous here on the board there's been several threads about it. I'm sorry I can't remember which memeber posted this, but there was one about someone winning a jackpot and having to go to court to reamin anonymous, and thus becoming famous for winning their case

Food for thought regarding anonymity....
There have been several anonymous winners. Even the name of trusts if you look up the winners of lotto. Of course it's been a while since someone has claimed anonymously since lotto prizes (exept the $11M prize) have been so small lately why bother with anonymous claims. They still list the name of the trust and city. Other than that they just say the winner wishes to be anonymous. I remember a $16M pot was claimed that way.

Forming a trust to claim prize
I know that in states like Ohio and New Hampshire, you can form a trust to claim a prize, because it was actually done in those states. But can you do it anywhere? So if the jackpot was won in Nebraska or South Dakota or Pennsylvania, could you still form a trust and remain anonymous? The WLT Trust was formed in Pennsylvania a while back to claim a large Powerball jackpot but the names were still shown on the Powerball news article. The Duchess Trust from Louisiana was also formed , but th

If you won a lottery jackpot..........
Quote: Originally posted by weshar75 on February 18, 2005In oregon you can not form a trust to collect winnings you have to be an actual person with winning ticket in hand to collect. But I would not do the press conference or t.v. interviews that the lottery and local news want. The only thing I would want them to know is the place were the ticket is sold and name of winner which is required by state law. Is this true? In some places, such as Washington D.C. anonymous lotto winners anymore?
Quote: Originally posted by ThinkBig on July 17, 2004If you play the lottery in the state of Virgina you CANNOT remain anonymous, especially if you win the jackpot. Virgina will not even allow you to claim it with a trust. Everyone who wins money in a jackpot will have to appear for a press conference plus they will post your photo on their website. The same thing applies to those who win big in the state of Illinois. If you are concerned about anonymity, perhaps you should journey on up to Maryl

Lottery Winners Remaining Anonymous.
Actually, the lawyer was present with the winner at the state lottery office, so the lawyer probably claimed the prize on her behalf with her present. You can have the lawyer claim the prize. In 2003, the Powerball website listed Cello Investments, LLC as one of the winners of the February 22, 2003 drawing. But there were no details of how the prize was claimed. Who knows? Maybe a trust was formed, but the woman probably didn't want the name of the trust to be shown. That has happened be
