Introduction
Hello all. I didn't really see a general discussion forum to introduce myself, so this was the closest I could actually get. Well, I have a newfound interest in the lotto now. I guess my interest peaked after the nationwide rush for that $656 Million Mega Millions jackpot a month or so ago. I, unfortunately, live in a state where there is no lottery, and I'd have to drive two hours to get to a state that does. I have, however, been doing some research on how to play the popular lottery games onl

cash vs. annuity
I think that perhaps your are overcalculating your taxes. When you take the lump sum, federal tax witholding is only 25%. Depending on what state you live in, the state income tax could range from 0% to 9%. Added together, that is still less than the 42% income tax rate you are quoting. DC does not charge state income tax on lottery winnings, so you would only incur the 25% federal witholding. Now, if you invest your remaining winnings into treasury bonds, you would only pay federal income ta

Asked ChatGPT How To Win the Lottery
Got the same message and signed up for the email notification when it would be ready to chat, but when I refreshed the page a few minutes later it was live for me. However, you have to join with your google or msn membership pass and they call your cell with a code number to get in, all in all a lot of effort for so little, more like it scrapped some of the answer sites. IMO: these things are better at very general replies or ambiguous fortune telling. Can't see it explaining why we have a syste

How LOW can ILLINOIS Go -- Pretty LOW
The Illinois Lottery is good, but who controls the purse strings. The Illinois General Assembly gave birth to the Illinois Lottery now they are killing it. In business, it is like discarding a subsidiary. The board of directors make the final decision as they have controlling interest. The subsidiary might have been profitable, but they do not make the final decision. As a share holder, I might not like their decision. But I have to make a decision on whether or not to sell the stock. In a case

Congratulations to fja for reaching Elite status!
fja is only the 17th member of Lottery Post to reach Elite status, so I wanted to say congratulations! There are so few members of that status because it takes such a tireless daily dedication to accomplish. For 7 years fja has been an active member, a driving force behind keeping interest in the Jackpost Games forum high. Anyone who has participated in the Mega Millions and Powerball challenges has seen fja's statistics. Thank you for everything you've done for this site, its members,

Question to single men and women on the forums.
Married? No thanks, I have zero interest in getting married now or after winning a jackpot and if for some reason I were to, which I won't, there certainly would be a prenuptial agreement signed before hand and if they don't like it, oh well. But again, I wouldn't get married so it wouldn't matter. If I met someone after winning I wouldn't tell that person anything about where my money came from anything other than my self employment, even if I'm my own, only client. I certainly wouldn't be flau

Cash Only on a posting rampage.
I'll go on record with a couple of points here:Tnplayer805, there's nothing wrong with your avatar, and there's nothing wrong with the game, if you like it. Don't feel bullied by someone who posts trash about something you enjoy.I personally do not like to see hundreds of posts that have little or no substance, and sometimes I delete the especially flighty ones. Especially the ones that dig up old threads by posting a meaningless three-word sentence.I have built extra ignore features into th

Questions for Lottery Official
Quote: Originally posted by golotto on February 03, 2004 i realize that lottery officials probably aren't allowed to play the jackpot games to avoid the appearance of conflict of interest...but hypothetically, if he won...would he take cash or annuity? just wondering what his thought are about how lottery issued annuities are really set up and handled. after all, 25 or 30 years is a long time. it would be nice to know his general views and if he would ever consider the annuity route. thanks.
