New Yorkers do play raffle games... except they do it in Pennsylvania. New York's border state of Pennsylvania has been holding their Millionaire Raffle for more than the last 20 consecutive years. They sell just 500,00 tickets, ($20 each) tickets sales run from November 4, 2025 to January 3, 2025. It seems to me as though it could be a combination of risk/reward ratio and a money management technique that every player *should* have for themselves. 1 Ticket for x jackpot amount, 1 ticket for 5x amount, 1 ticket for 10x amount, 1 ticket for 100x amount, etc... 1 Ticket total per try, 5 tickets total, 10 tickets total, 100 tickets total etc... It is certainly up to each player to decide what amount is acceptable for their risk/reward ratio and money management goals for them to join

Studying past draws is a waste of time. Each drawing is an independent random event. The only way to increase the probability of winning is to buy more tickets. It is true that each drawing is an independent random event. Since I mostly play the pick 3, it is also independent by position. Also, more tickets is the only way to change the odds. No, buying all of the tickets is a guaranteed win. But, buying all 1,000 pick 3 combinations will cost twice as much as the payout. In PA it pays $500 for $1 straight.
