Another Day, Another Chance
The odds are the same for a combination everywhere including Michigan (1 in 1000 draws) So if 2 draws/day then roughly 730 draws yearly (365 days x 2 draws) That would almost equal a 1 in 3 chance to hit Strait. It could hit sooner or you could wait a lot longer. Boxed would give you better odds.

thoughts on lottery syndicates
Here is a good example of how beneficial syndicate play can be. Using the recent huge Mega Millions jackpot, say there are 100 people in a syndicate, each paying $20 each. In total, the syndicate has $2,000, enough to buy 1,000 Mega Millions tickets. This results in odds of approximately 1 in 300,000 of each person in the syndicate winning $7.8 million. There is no game on earth where an individual can spend $20 on their own and have odds of 1 in 300,000 of winning that much money.

So for each draw we could potentially buy 41 tickets . . The MM odds of winning something are 1:24 and the two most likely prizes pay a max win of $20 are matching 1+1 and/or $10 matching 0+1. You'll probably need multiple wins or a $10 win with a 5 multiplier just to break even. The odds of matching 3+`1 are 1:14,547 to win $200 or possibly $1000, but you'll have to split that with nine other players. For the same $1000 you could get twice as many chances of winning the jackpot, but jac

If the group buys the 1000 tickets for one drawing, then you could be right on the odds. But if the 1000 tickets are bought over a certain duration of time, then that's a flawed way of calculating the odds. My thoughts.

Let's try and wake up this Pick 10 N.Y. site
Well done tique ---------------------------------- Up here in Ontario, 6/10 pays zip But 6/6 pays $1,000 The difference between the 2 lotteries are that in Ontario, You can play anything from a 2 spot to a 10 spot. but it's a 10/70 draw rather than a 10/80 draw which affects the odds of winning. Had you played those 6 numbers on a 6 spot, you'd have won big time ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When is the right time to hang your lottery boots?
I have that thought regularly. But I am one of those players who has no issue throwing in the towel for years at a time. Most of my 20 years on the LP was not playing. Last year, the only game I played regularly was the PA match 6. That was most likely because the game goes off every night and I can pick a set of numbers and advance play for 26 days at a time. I know the odds and choose to accept the likely outcome. The opportunity to win even a part of $500,000 is the motivator to continue.

Maryland lottery
Hi. Looking at this from a technical issue-computers are programmed by humans. This can lead to the odds on each scratch-off ticket being adjusted accordingly. I haven't noticed any difference in the 2nd tier winnings.

Why do some people not check their tickets?
They thought they didn't win, I mean look at the odds. They like to dream a little bit, and they'll check it later on.

Pick 5 With Fireball Florida
I don't know, Stats, Hottmess might be onto something here. Imagine a variation of the Pick5 where the lottery gave an option to add additional Fireball options. You already pay $1 extra for a single Fireball, but let's say $3 extra for a 2nd Fireball or $5 extra for three Fireballs. Leave the payouts alone but adjust the add-on bets so the cost balances out against the odds. They're always looking for way to wring another couple bucks out of us, why not build more options into a existing game?

Let's try and wake up this Pick 10 N.Y. site
OK so I specialized my Pick looking for low numbers and it paid off. It broke the one in 87 odds to get six out of 10 numbers I'll take the $10 but that's a really really good insight into the game to be aware of what's going on
