Texas Lottery to change Lotto game back to 6/54 format
Mega Millions has now taken that share away. I agree though a state having two bonus ball games is probably not in its best interests, but this game will rarely have a huge jackpot. Again states should up the payback percentages to compete with other forms of gambling entertainment which in turn equals more sales, more revenue, more taxes paid to winners yada yada. But as we know that will never happen.

Company That Claimed to Sell Winning Lottery Numbers Will Pay Refund
LckyLary if you developed software that really made money, why would you want to sell it to make money? What Missouri has said is you can't make false claims about your service or software to trick foolish people out of their money in Missouri. Most lottery software have a disclaimer telling the consumer that it's to be used for entertainment purposes only which make them legal.

Oregon to add gaming machines at horse track
It is a shame that people would rather play the lottery with its 50% paybacks then go to the races where paybacks vary from 80-90% and you get some serious entertainment from it.

Texas lottery legislation seeks to ensure state's share of revenue
At least the TLC is honest about their intentions. The program is a money-raiser for the state and not entertainment for the masses. If you enjoy playing, that's fine. If you enjoy winning, that is up to luck and your stomach for losing. I play because I enjoy it, but I have no sense of entitlement. Just because I play, doesn't mean I am entitled to win. Lottery feelings still run deep
Thanks for the update. It's good to see that nothing has changed since 1987. When I first heard the story. Agree with the moderation factor, it's entertainment--and when you can't afford it , you lose! Any help guide will say that. Play only what you can afford. And have fun. It's only a game.

Lottery bill could limit winner's take
Perhaps the politicians should just grow a backbone and reform the welfare system, rather than tinkering with the lottery. I thought you just said you did not like government intrusion? You do not agree or disagree,... how wishy-washy. Government is not telling people they cannot gamble, read it again. Nowhere does it say they are tinkering with the lottery. State governments that have lotteries do not tinker, but rather run it like a business. Is there something wrong with the welfare depa

Colorado Lottery starts Mega Millions sales Sunday
I'm Glad another State is being given a chance to participate in a High Jackpot Game. Todd's Right, even though Mega starts out at 12 million, its been my experience that it rises about 1 and a half to two times faster than Powerball, and the Cash value is about 1/3 times as much better than Powerball, and it also has lower odds than Powerball, so no harm no foul. I think no one makes people play the lottery, especially in terms of volume. People choose play however much they ar

Lottery ticket sales increase across country
Financial records for 41 state lotteries that end their fiscal year in June show 28 had higher sales than the year before. Seventeen of those states set all-time sales records. Kate Sweeny, an assistant professor of psychology at the University of California-Riverside, said an uptick in lottery sales largely occurs when people feel a lack of control over events larger than themselves, such as the economy. Jeff Anderson, head of the executive committee of the North American Association of S

Questions arise about funds used for Calif. Lottery party
The California Lottery handed out a Nintendo Wii, several iPods, digital cameras and gift cards as prizes during a $43,629 employee recognition celebration and charged some of the items as training expenses. During a Nov. 8 event commemorating the $20 billion the lottery has provided education since its 1984 inception, state officials used lottery administration funds to host a prime rib dinner for more than 300 employees and their guests at the DoubleTree Hotel in Sacramento. As part of

$1.08 billion Powerball lottery winner Yanira Alvarez filed claim for jackpot over five months ago
I never understood why some people continue playing the lottery if they think it is a scam and makes them unhappy. It is for entertainment purposes only.
