She did not win the lottery but did win in a sports betting game back in the early 1960's. Here in California, we have to wait six weeks before we get the check. That will be plenty of time to hire financial advisers, accountants, attorneys, and lawyers. We can wait for a full year to claim the jackpot. There are no federal restrictions on state lotteries because the Fifth Court of Appeals ruled the Interstate Wire Act only applies to sports betting. Federal online gambling legislation clears big hurdleReply
That was not a law either legalizing online gaming or even making it illegal. It was a law that prohibits any kind of banking transaction for financing online gaming. There has never been a USA law ever passed in any way affecting online gaming directly. The feds say that the Wire Act prohibits online gambling, but I personally think that's a big stretch. I think they know it's a stretch, because they have never attempted any kind of law enforcement for anything except sports betting online.
