Lottery retailers busted in raid
it is not entrapment, entrapment would be if the police gives you drugs and then another police arrests you. It's very definitely not entrapment. Entrapment is when law enforcement personnel or their agents persuade you to commit a crime when you had no intent to do so. Simply giving you enough rope to hang yourself isn't entrapment. That's why cops can do a buy and bust or set up a bait car to catch car thieves. According to the information presented in the article the cops in this

Lottery retailers busted in raid
Very nice graphic!!! Perhaps there had been reports to law enforcement of winning tickets having been kept which is why they sent them in to get proof. Think the worthless ticket was a real $1000 winner that an undercover officer was told by a dishonest clerk that it was not a winner. Shame on them for cheating customers, but they'll probably have a long time to think about their actions.

$57M Mega Millions lottery winner is sex offender with criminal past
Criminal intent doesn't mean they actually committed that crime; it means it can be proven it was their intention. Dateline NBC has a segment called To Catch a Predator and they work with the Counter Pedophilia Investigative Unit. That group monitors teenage chat rooms and its members pretend to be teenage girls and engage in conversations with adults that enter the room. They are looking for pedophiles that frequent those rooms and record the conversations. If a large number of these adults

Lottery 'joke' wins man fine, year probation
What Koons did isn't entrapment, even ignoring the fact that entrapment can only be committed law enforcement officers or those working as their agents. By all accounts, Koons didn't intend for the person who found the ticket to make a claim, and he did nothing to persuade Miller to file the claim and make a false statement. The available evidence also says that Miller made a legitimate mistake in thinking the altered ticlet was one that he had bought. Assuming he bought quickpicks, or used nu

Florida lottery raffle tickets being illegally re-sold
Ticket scalping may be illegal in most areas, but it goes on anyway. Go outside the stadium of any sold-out prefessional football game and watch the scalpers at work, even though law enforcement personnel are present and on duty. And what about those ticket-reselling agencies who promote their services in the classified ads in every major newspaper in the country, offering tickets to every sold-out sporting and cultural event - and collect a hefty fee for doing so? The sellers and the lottery

US House votes to kill Internet gambling
I'll preface this post by saying that I have no respect for the New York times ongoing publishing of classified information which has compromised national security. I hope they are charged and prosecuted to the fullest extent the law provides. That being said here is a paragraph from one of their articles concerning lobbying groups pushing to get the internet gambling ban enacted. Logic prevails that they're at least partially correct although I read on a couple of conservative discussion s

Record Powerball lottery won by one Nebraskan
THIS is quite the real story here--Misuse of the security camera. I'm sure that the camera serves a good purpose with ID'ing people that rob the store, or in some cases ID'ing suspects wanted by Law enforcement or missing persons , but in this case it is an invasion of these people's privacy. Has the footage made it to the local / national news yet ?

After taking a seat on the state lottery commission, Charlotte public relations executive Kevin Geddings was required to disclose in a state filing that he had a financial relationship with a lottery company.Geddings did not do it.But the stiffest penalty for a failure to disclose such information is for the N.C.
