$400 MILLION: Powerball lottery jackpot explodes
I actually thought I had a chance yesterday because I bought ticket right before the machine went down. Right after the clerk printed the ticket the machine went down. Silly girl.

Lottery player says scanner not accurate
I believe him... Its happened to me on more than one occasion in Illinois. I've scanned a ticket, and it seems like if you scan your next ticket before the machine clears out, it can give you an error, or say sorry not a winner , than if you rescan, low-and-behold, you may have had a winner.... I kind of think that is why so much prize money goes unclaimed, because throw away their winning tickets after the machine tells them that its sorry, not a winner ...

N.C. man rescues winning lottery ticket in garbage
Yeah I always double check my tickets, and I would advise NOT to use the self ticket scanners to see if ya won (at least not in michigan). Matched the mega ball on a ticket so I scanned it to see if thats all I won. I actually won $10 but the machine kept telling me not a winner, scanned it 4 or 5 times. Took it over to the clerk and he scanned it on the lotto machine and what do ya know , a $10 dollar winner. I was pissed to say the least.

Indiana Lottery finds $13,000 mistake
i check my number before i go to cash in a ticket but if the machine told me it wasnt a winner i would probably believe the machine but after reading these recent stories i would save the ticket and check it on another machine but maybe all of the machines were scanning the tickets as losers.

Indiana man says store cost him $11.5M lottery jackpot
I understand why Charles Andrews is upset, he knows what #s he would have played, he wrote them down on the playslip, and all 6 would have matched (HIS personal lightening would probably have struck)! That HURTS greatly, and he is probably upset with himself that he waited too long for a person with a disability to get to a backup lottery ticket retailer in case of problems with the first! I've had the same thing happen to me. Unfortunately, the store that he went to support, via purchasing an I

New York Lottery accounting method questioned
Billions of dollars in bets are kept off the New York Lottery's books. That's because the state Lottery Division does not publicly report the wagers on its video games that go to gamblers as prizes. The figures aren't included in the Lottery's annual reports or audited financial statements, and the Lottery initially declined requests for the amounts wagered on the video machines, and the prizes paid, since the machines were introduced in 2004. Late yesterday, however, a Lottery official

Kalamazoo mart customer holds $36M lottery ticket
great phrase...........The machine didn't process....... Looks like some of these stores need to get on the ball.......if the machine didn't work then the clerks would have to take the tickets and process them and who knows where those unprocessed tickets would end up...... I can see the machine getting unplugged and the clerk saying here give me the ticket..(pretends to scan ticket)............well it's not a winner ..........(clerk keeps the ticket to cash later someplace else !!!!!!!)..

Man let lottery winner go first
Like I had mentioned earlier, that's not necessarily true. It is only true IF the RNG is programmed to use a different seed value every time a new ticket is generated. Perhaps it's only programmed to use a different seed once every 5 minutes. Or perhaps it doesn't use the internal clock as its seed.Or there are a million other maybe s that could affect this story. The only one who knows for sure is the manufacturer of the machine.A RNG does not work like a slot machine. What works like a slot

New York Lottery won't pay $25,000 for taped-up scratch-off ticket
Woman plans to file lawsuit against the lottery By the time lottery officials told Patricia Manzitto that her winning ticket was a fake, she already had spent nearly half the $25,000 she thought she'd won. But when Manzitto went to collect her winnings four days later, officials at the New York Lottery's Garden City center told her that it looked as if her ticket had been forged by taping two halves of different tickets together. Lottery officials refused to pay up. Manzitto, 64, of Ea

Gaming the lottery was this couple's retirement plan
Gerald Selbee broke the code of the American breakfast cereal industry because he was bored at work one day, because it was a fun mental challenge, because most things at his job were not fun and because he could because he happened to be the kind of person who saw puzzles all around him, puzzles that other people don't realize are puzzles: the little ciphers and patterns that float through the world and stick to the surfaces of everyday things. This was back in 1966, when Jerry, as he is kno
