What's with NY Sweet Million??
Although QP's yeild the most jackpot winners, I'm not a fan of them and I dont usually buy them. I once got a Take5 Free Play with 4 numbers in sequence. Prior to that, I had sent an Ask the Lottery E-mail to them asking if there was ever a drawing where 5 numbers in sequence were drawn in the entire history of Take5. (Their answer was it has never happened.) I then sent a second e-mail asking if 4 numbers in sequence had ever been drawn in the same drawing. They answered that it had happened 3

Could there be a reason people that win jackpots have 1 play on a ticket?
Long time reader, barely ever post. Over the summer, two people in my town won the mega millions. One for 250,000 . One for 10,000. I personally know the gentelman that won the 10,000. He'd spend 100 dollars at the gas station across from my house every tuesday and friday for well over a year before he even hit anything . The gentelman who won the 250,000 , got a quick pick on the way out of the supermarket. So now, when I buy quick picks, I stagger them, by ordering them one at a ti

This Big MEGA
I am still floored by the $500 QP (and do you know how long it takes a machine to kick out 500 lines -- even with ten lines per ticket?)... I would have left if he said he wanted individual tickets...... The clerk was funny though --- Man says he wants 500 Mega Million Quick Picks The clerk goes -- Excuse Me? You want how many? Man says 500 The Clerk goes -- Umm I got to get the manager....... ==== I would have said -- show me the money..... But in the end the manager

$5 Powerball Quick Pick Oddity
I love your post. I have tried to discuss this point before but no one gets what I was saying about odds. I have made posts not too long ago saying that duplicate numbers like yours are lucky. I based a system of picks on these duplicate. My theory is that if you are buying a handful of lines, you odds of matching the right numbers is greater than say buying one ticket IE 10 > 1. There are 5 white balls in one line (1 of 10). To win using these white balls, you have to match >2 nu

28 most common questions about Powerball
From the Powerball website. A couple of them are below, all 28 are listed on the link. I'm putting this in Lottery Discussions and not Jackpot Games because I'm sure at least a few of them apply to all lotteries: CAN I REMAIN ANONYMOUS WHEN I HIT THE JACKPOT? All but three states (DE, KS, ND) have laws that require the lottery to release the name and city of residence to anyone who asks. One state (SC) will keep your name secret if you request it, but if someone files a Fre

Three number matches
OK, this is on the Canadian Lotto 6/49 because there's a lot of historical data, it goes back to 1982 and for the time being I'm in Canada rather than Texas. The minimum that you have to match in the 6/49 is three numbers so I took all 2,734 draws and parsed them into the three number combinations from each draw then I have a script running through all 13.98 million combinations scoring them on how many three number matches they would've had, if the combination was one that matched all six n

Protecting your numbers
Quote: Originally posted by Visar on June 13, 2006 Quote: Originally posted by Prob988 on June 13, 2006 I use a similar strategy. For many years I kept a file on certain types of lottery drawings and wrote a computer program to process them, accounting, among other things, for their frequency in drawings that resulted in higher than average numbers of winners. No such program is infallable, since the majority of tickets sold are quick picks, but you can increase the liklihood that if your numb
