CA Lottery - California Love - CA Lottery Scratchers
That is true, it was based off of the 18 million tickets from the $100 prize pool (45k prizes of 1 in 400 odds). I also mistyped 685 out of 686 times chances of losing , meant to say a non $500 ticket. Since there was 26250 $500 winners, I divided it to get 685.7 Overall point is, no matter how many books are bought, there is a good chance of coming out in a defecit. I think this game is there to make winning feel more realistic even at 68% payout.

CA Lottery - California Love - CA Lottery Scratchers
I help manage my mom's lottery pool with their 2nd chance entries. Over 90% of tickets they play are the various crossword and bingo games. They love it. But, I agree, it seems like an overkill though...

CA Lottery - California Love - CA Lottery Scratchers
Speaking of draw games, it might not a bad idea to play Fantasy 5 tonight. I've been getting about 60% ROI or worse on scratchers lately. Until the new speculated $20 game comes out, Million $$ Match (on the survey?), Im going to try exploring Daily 3 and Daily 4. Very popular here on these forums even though it pays back just 50% of the ticket pool.

Virginia scratchers are the biggest rip off
Every so often in our lottery pool we will play a game on top of Mega million which is sometimes scratchers. Usually when you buy a row of 8-10 tickets you win something. The last three times we played every last ticket was a loser. I wasn't even tempted to go back and buy additional tickets in case I just got a string of losers because I felt used enough as it was. Atleast this time it was only $1 scratchers but it still burns me up they are so cheap and devoid of any entertainment value what s

Would the lottery get upset if we post pictures of TOP PRIZE scratch off tickets?
In CA, large draw/lotto prizes that are unclaimed can go straight to education funding, not put back in the prize pool for other use. Scratch games are different. All the unclaimed tickets of varying size just end up making the game return less than it it should.(say, 69% instead of 71%) They can then use those funds to cover unexpeced prize liability from draw/lotto games, or offer additional promotions like raffles and 2nd chance, or create better scratch games.

75 % payout question
The key difference here is the expected return for the entire game versus expected return of a random pack. Here in CA, the high level games appear to return around 66% overall to the players but based on the winning tickets that you are likely to actually see, the return is around 40%. The top tier for many games here have between 10-20% of the prize pool, but only like .00008% of the tickets. This is why so many people start raging when they buy packs and get a far lower return than they what

Pennsylvania still has winners out there!
I really didnt have the extra yesterday, but I can add to the story. I went back over at the end of the day. Someone bought ticket 006 of MCE and hit $20. I run a football pool at work so I borrowed money from there til i got home(didnt want to take out of bank again, but knew I had cash at home). I got ticket 007 and then the next 4 of 20X(011-014). MCE hit $40 and one of the 20X hit for $5. I forget which # it was. I went to cash my tickets this morning and MCE was on 009(so 008 was bought) an

2nd chance drawings...
Yes, the Scratcher Replay system here in CA is pretty good.(well, can't really say it's *good* until I win one of 'em! ;) EVERY losing ticket is eligible for 2nd chance draw: (from calottery website) After you have successfully entered your codes, they will be entered into TWO drawings: The first drawing is the POOL DRAWING which occurs every few months. All codes from all eligible Scratchers tickets entered before that specific pool drawing deadline will go into a drawing for TEN priz

How many different stores do you buy Scratch tickets from?
Yeah, just in general, not lifetime stores or anything. Just the set of stores that you typically buy from nowadays. I buy from a pool of about 12 different stores in my area, which includes a bunch of convenience stores and shops, some gas stations, and a couple of big grocery chains Ralphs and Vons that have the Scratcher vending machines. I drop a $20 on those once or twice a week while getting groceries, but they don't seem to win much.
