Buy scratcher at one store, redeem at another?
From what I have been told here in FL, retailers do not get a percentage of winnings off of scratch-offs...They just get Bragging rights when they sell a big ticket. They do however get a check when someone wins the FL Lottery, Powerball, or Mega Money. To answer your question, when I have a winner of $100 or more, I usually take it to a different grocery store because there has been too many times where a clerk may expect a tip for selling you a winning ticket. It will avoid all akwa

Have you or anyone you known tipped clerks that have helped you select a winning instant ticket?
No I do not tip clerks. I spend my hard earned money. Even if the clerk did tell me which roll one had a bunch of losers, I wouldnt tell them if I won. If you tell the clerk that you won (for example) $500 then they might expect a piece of the pie. Its like letting the clerk gamble with your money, if you are giving some of it back to them.

Store Clerk Playing Unfair? Is This Legal?
There's a clerk I really like at Giant who has helped me with a lot of cash-ins. I asked her if she'd let me tip her, but although she was flattered, she wasn't allowed to take a tip. I got asked by this other clerk for a tip at Giant then when I shouldn't have been asked. I wonder how many clerks go against policy. I'd have no problem tipping on $200 or more winnings, but at Giant I will say no.

Florida Scratch Offs - Post Pictures if posible
This idea of tipping a clerk if YOU pick n buy your own tickets makes no sense - IF the clerk steered you to buy a certain ticket because he/she knew it was a hot roll and it won $100 or more - then I could see a tip might be in order. Nothing more than $10.00 tho .......and remember, once you tip they will always EXPECT it. When you pull a $1K ticket from the machine who do you tip ? The machine ?? :) I think when you lose say $4 or $500 - go back to the store with your losing tickets and

NY Scratch-off Discussion
I usually do NOT tip the clerks. I look at it like this, I spend tons of cash on tickets and usually just ask the clerk has there been any decent wins today? ....99% of the time they just answer naw, just people winning their money back . I don't think I need to tip when they just rip a ticket from the book and hand it to me. I pay the machine most of the times too. Now if the clerk told me, hey man just an FYI, that book just had 10 losers in a row, you may want to try that one , an

Tipping the salesperson on a big win
I don't tip...PERIOD. The clerk didn't lead me to buying my winning tickets; it was extreme luck and coincidence. Not to sound harsh but the clerk is no more inclined to part of my big wins than I am to part of their tills they made on sales at their store on a particular day. Besides in South Carolina, places that sell winning tickets over $500 get a 10% commission from the SCEL. Sounds more than generous to me. The store and/or the clerk shouldn't require a tip from the person who actual

Tipping the salesperson on a big win
i was thinking of tipping the clerk on my last $1000, I thought 10% would be fair. It can be annoying when clerks ask for tip on a 100$ win because usually I'm just breaking even. But the clerk that sold me the winner is very polite and has never asked for a tip. what does everyone here else do ?

So I ask the clerk for one $10 scratch off. He gives me the ticket and I hand him a $10 bill with a $5 tip. He was so happy. Then I scratch off my ticket and hit $250.
