If I won the lottery, I would take the lump sum payout. Second, I would setup a property trust, whereby, the funds would be invested in a single blue chip stock, like Microsoft for 30 years(or more) to grow the endowment. That is where the spreadsheet formula comes in. You can use MS Excel, or free versions like openOffice or even Google Sheets. Put your many rows in column A. At the first cell in column B, type = BASE(A1, 9). Then grab the bottom right corner of B1 and drag it down to match the row length in column A.
