Arizona Lottery delays expiration date of $12.8 million jackpot-winning ticket in legal battle
Evidently it must have been against company policy for employees to purchase rejected tickets The stories I've seen have said the policy is that employees can't buy (any) lottery tickets at the store they work at , not just while they're working. There's also the whole deception angle of attempting to buy the ticket in the hopes that the company didn't yet know they owned a ticket worth far more than face value. I don't see any way that it was a lawful sale/purchase. Unprecedented move

Florida man robs retailer for seven books of lottery tickets, returns to same store to cash them in
Thief confesses he needed money, but cashing attempts are baffling By Kate Northrop A Florida man stole seven books of lottery tickets from a retailer and then returned to the same store hours later to attempt to cash them in. A Florida man went on a back-and-forth robbery spree in May, stealing seven books of lottery tickets and repeatedly trying to cash in the winning tickets at two different stores. On the evening of May 5, 2025, Justin Farley, 43, visited the Circle K conveni

Montana Lottery aims to prohibit bulk purchases after group takes gamble on $1.6 million jackpot
I don't agree with this. It's the lottery's job to shut down so-called bulk ticket retailers, not collect all this money and then deny payment. That's what Texas tried to do to a winner and she had to sue them to collect. Withholding payment to the woman in TX with no indication that her ticket was bought as part of a (still legal) effort to have the winning numbers as a result of an organized effort to methodically buy all of the combination was ill conceived, but it wasn't the lottery tha

Florida Walmart employee arrested for fraud after keeping elderly customer's lottery ticket
It's really amazing that people are playing and winning large sums of money and don't understand how to cash a ticket. In KY, when checking the same type of pick 4 win, scanners and kiosks will show the amount won and to suggest taking the ticket to a cashing agent. Tickets over $5000 but under $25,000 in value can cash at a super cashing agent. Tickets over $25,000 must be cashed at lottery headquarters in Louisville. Considering the number of elderly Florida residences and the many tourist

Pennsylvania Supreme Court outlaws skill games
If skill game machines were taxed, the Independent Fiscal Office estimates that they could generate more than $420 million in tax revenue by 2028 or 2029 . In other words we CAN'T tax the skill game machine winners, so we'll get rid of the skill machines. Then hopefully the skill game players will switch to playing at casinos or playing the lottery so that way when they win there, then we CAN tax them. Follow the money.
