Identical winning numbers crop up in hundreds of U.S. lotteries. Are the drawings really random?

America's popular and lucrative lottery drawings, in which computers randomly select numbers that turn a lucky few into instant millionaires, may not be as random as they seem.
In dozens of the games across the United States, identical winning numbers have been generated within weeks or months of each other sometimes in consecutive drawings, a Des Moines Register investigation shows.

Powerball is on a winners streak again!
Could putting the odds too high in comparison to the amount of players available for powerball at this time be counterproductive?Although we like to think the purpose of the game is to give us a huge check* for millions. The real purpose of the game is to provide the M.U.S.L. members revenue outside of their normal tax bases. If the odds are too high are we going to see an almost drought of activity till the DSC barrier of $100 Million** is reached? If the game stops bringing in say between $10
