Missouri Senate to discuss privatizing state lottery
The Missouri Lottery will begin talks in April with the state Senate about moving control of the lottery from the government to the private sector. Lottery Executive Director May Scheve said it was difficult to comment on the issue because the Missouri Lottery is currently ascertaining the opinion of state vendors on the matter; privatization was only recently brought up by the Senate's Rebooting Government initiative. We really haven't engaged in conversation with the Senate, Scheve said

Have you ever wondered why many lottery retailers are owned by members of certain racial minorities?
Here in the Marietta, Georgia area, it has been my observation that a very large percentage of lottery retailers are owned and operated by members of certain minorities, especially people of Middle Eastern descent. I have always wondered why this is the case, haven't you? After all, northeast Cobb is primarily white, very close to or above 90%. I have the answer for you. It is a Georgia law which disenfranchises members of the white majority. If you were to replace the words minority with the

The link relates to the use of GS for Texas Pick3, but it can be used for KY Pick 3. I would appreciate any feedback on GS, particularly how I can overcome the 'missed by one' syndrome. But to do it, you will have to actually generate and use the workout. Don't fall for the 'it's too complicated' reason not to giv

Arkansas lottery tickets may be available by this fall
The Arkansas lottery is getting closer to becoming a reality. Soon, people in Arkansas will be able to go into convenience stores and gas stations and buy lottery tickets in their own state rather than heading to one of the boardering states to get their chance at the big money. March 25, Gov. Mike Beebe signed both the identical Senate and House bills passing the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Act. Arkansas will soon join boardering states Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas

Improvements to the jackpot history pages
I just finished installing significant improvements to the jackpot history page for each game, with expanded statistical information, native currencies (for non-US dollar jackpots), and US dollar equivalents. The Jackpot History page for a game can be viewed by clicking on the game, and then selecting Jackpot History from the popup menu. For example, here is the Mega Millions Jackpot History page: https://www.lotterypost.com/game/45/jackpot Here are some examples of some non-US Dollar g

Lawsuit filed to pull lottery off Arkansas ballot
A group opposing a state-run lottery asked the Arkansas Supreme Court on Friday to throw the proposal off this fall's ballot. The Arkansas Family Council argued in a petition filed with the state's highest court that the proposed constitutional amendment's title and name should be found inaccurate, incomplete and misleading because they don't define lotteries and doesn't warn voters of potential consequences of authorizing a state-run lottery. The proposal leaves it up to the Legislature to w

Stolen lottery money returned to real winners
Four school board employees, allegedly cheated out of their winning lottery ticket by a retailer who claimed the prize money as his own, received a check for $5.7 million plus interest Wednesday from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation. The check came as Ontario Provincial Police announced they had charged Hafiz Malik, a 60-year-old former convenience store owner with theft and fraud following an investigation into insider wins at the OLG. Police allege Malik, who was release

Scholarships hit by S.C. Lottery downturn
As revenue declines, grants could cover less of rising in-state tuition Declining revenues from the S.C. lottery and increasing demand for the scholarships it provides means students could see their tuition grants drop. It's already happened in Georgia, where tighter standards for winning lottery-funded scholarships have cost 18,000 students once-free rides. Some day, we will have to cap the cost, S.C. Senate Finance Chairman Hugh Leatherman said. The general fund cannot afford to ha

N.J. is next state to consider bad election lottery idea
By Charles Paolino Home News Tribune, New Jersey Who wants to be a millionaire? That's the question Assemblyman Patrick Diegnan wants to ask potential voters or, at least, that's one way to express the theme of a bill he's proposing in the state Legislature. Diegnan, a Democrat representing the 18th District, is one of two legislators suggesting that a lottery be held each year on Dec. 31 for a million-dollar prize to be awarded a registered voter who cast a ballot that year in a pri
