Lucky Break: Co-workers win lottery
There's strength in numbers and I'd like to join a local lottery pool. I disagree there has to be any lawsuits or bickering if everything is spelled out in writing from the beginning. If I recall, the co-workers in CA who won a few weeks ago didn't have any trouble collecting even though some people said they usually participated in the pool. 200 tickets have a much better chance of winning a big jackpot than 10. One rule would be that any tickets not bought by the group would belong to the ow

Lucky Break: Co-workers win lottery
This is a nice heart-warming story. One that encourage group participation in the work place. On my job people have been threatened to be Fired if they were caught participating in any gambling pool, although I have had a Supervisor and a Manager participate in pools that I had established in the past.I like reading stories when these work place pools workout. But, hold on to your hats. If everyone didnot get into this pool, some jealous or distraught person may come forward. I hope not but s

lottery jackpot winnings
Most winners (2nd prize and lower) are anonymous if they chose but I think most states avoid giving jackpot winners that choice because losers want to know who won the jackpot if I didn't? . When jackpot winners are slow coming forward, losers complain and once in a while some even claim they've won but lost or misplaced the winning ticket.Winners of lower level prizes even though some of them are quite large aren't required to accept their winnings publicly but in the case of the second prize

Your lottery pool won,but you didn't play
Every ticket you buy is a chance at winning but does not entitle you to ownership of any portion of the jackpot unless your ticket matches the numbers (digressing to an earlier thread), every pool stands alone as to participants paying into it for a chance to win a particular drawing. If you fail to pay into the pool for a particular drawing, then you do not own any legal right to partake of any benefits bought and paid for by others. Tough noogies!!! You better have some type of proof th

Pa. Man Charged With Redeeming Forged Winning Lottery Ticket
A Pennsylvania man is accused of redeeming a forged lottery ticket.Police said Brian Scott Miller, 34, of Cumberland County, was one of 18 workers at Roadway Express who pool their money to play the lottery each week. Validation tests showed the ticket he took to lottery headquarters was forged. He was arrested once he walked out of lottery headquarters with what he thought was a valid check for $853,000.An agent for the attorney general's office, told a judge Monday that Miller was cooperative

Oregon winners and gift tax.
Thanks for your response Chewie.Unless you have information that I have not seen, your assumption that they 'formed a pool and had the ability to show prior existence of the agreement' is probably wrong. This was not an organised work pool. By their own accounts this was the first time they had played the Powerball for a while. In some reports it was the first time they had ever played. At the time they said that the two couples had a verbal agreement. Not sure how strong a verbal agreement is vie

26-year-old Iowan wins $853,000 lottery prize
More publicity than one grand prize winner. It'd be nice if they applied the bonus pool feature to each drawing.
