$500 MILLION: Mega Millions sets all-time lottery jackpot record
I put in $5 in an office pool and will separately play another $20.
Yeah, I know. Stay away from pools you say.
My take is that the problems associated with pools, be they lawsuits or attempts by fellow workmates to screw you, are far much more desirable and attractive than the problems I would think myself to have had I not partaken in the pool. In truth, pools have a 50/50 chance of developing into devious selfishness but I'll just man up and deal with it.
The way I see it, I

Rule regarding multiple winners
ea $1 line of 6 numbers, is 1 share of the jackpot. unlike other levels of prize where ea is an amount = to the prize levels amount.
say a synddicate kicked ouyt 1 person in an office, but he had a cop of hteir numbers. and he played them, he would get half, and the office pool would get half,. or they would get 1/20th ea.
but if the office pool, say 10 as in your exapmple, got wind of his machinations; the could all also buy a copy of the nnumbers,
then there would be 12 shares,

Weak Powerball Sales?
ohhh i see what you mean by people who dont play telling us how the lotto should be ran.
sorry rjoh thought that was directed at me.
personally id prefer an equitable prize structure, ie the same % if takings paid to ea prize catagory.
or for the technically minded, a table for ea ticket, where the gambler can assign waht % he wants to go to ea catagory. and that portion of the gambling dollar goes to that level, they could then quote payouts as %1 of pool values, so if i said

Canada couple loses out on $1.64M jackpot
I AGREE...Bottom line, if you pay to play, then you get a share if the pool wins. If you miss a couple draws, then you are OUT for those draws.
I'm sorry but when I was running a pool I told everyone I will not spot you for the draw, if you want to participate I need the $$ by this date/time
If they wanted to participat that bad, they should have made a special trip to the person collenting the money to drop off cash. I had people do this on several occasions. I even allowed som

Hi Everyone...Need help with our Lottery Club in Florida
First, don't go against the ideas on which the club was formed. These people are entrusting you with their money to do what the group decided as a whole. So the real question is, WHAT WAS THE IDEA THAT CAUSED THESE PEOPLE TO DONATE TO THAT POOL?
Is there a pool agreement that includes games to be played, splitting the wins, cut-off time for pay ins, etc? Determine what happens to the lower tier prizes. Are they split? Or do they go back into the players pool? These decisions need to be made a

Do we have Keno Players??
I have been diligently working (countless hours) on NY's Quick Draw Keno game (drawn every four minutes) I have devised a number of ways to narrow down to a pool of 20 numbers (out of 80) which every few draws or so provides an opportunity to get at least a 5 of 5.
NY's Quick Draw is nothing more than an RNG algorythm I have not been able to fully crack yet.
One of my favorite methods is to add +2 and +3 and -2 and -3 to the first 5 numbers drawn. This gives you a pool of 20 numbers that w

12 Michigan women + 2 men share $12.7M lottery jackpot
As one who runs lotto pools, four of them right now, I personally like them. I like them because with just $5 - $10 dollars I am in every drawing for a year on each my two big pools (20 and 21 members). I agree it will only take one ticket to win, that's why we only play $1 per drawing. Granted if we win the minimum jackpot, it will only be about $394,000 per person after taxes but that's more than I have right now; of course we're hoping to win a LARGE jackpot. In these tight economic times, $5

Hi Jack ! I mean .... Hello Jack . LOL Saw your 85 box plays post and the idea of playing all 85 boxes to make profit. Well, maybe we can look into box plays later on with something like this Straights Method.
But Jack .... let me ask you

Unemployed: Play the lottery or not?
I am graduating college this May. And I wonder what will happen to me.
I am interning at a major animation studio in Burbank. Yeah, it's one of the biggest one in America. I hope I can get hired by them after graduation.
But the future is very uncertain.
Today I saw a copy of MM tickets at the studio. It's a company lottery pool. How many people are in the pool? Since it's a big animation studio, roughly 80 people participate in the pool. Even if they win, they will still have to ke
