Canadian man sues 16 friends for share of $1 million lottery prize despite not paying for ticket
deserves a $70,000 share of the $1 million prize but the people that did pay to play got less. After the group won the $1 million prize, each individual took home about a $62,500 share .
And he was told he had pay to play or get kicked out. Another group member, Jessie Reid, reportedly reminded Tsotsos to contribute the $10 he owed to the pool so he wouldn't get kicked out, but he replied that he would be participating for certain. Apparently he never paid the $10 he owed the pool.

Mega Millions jackpot won twice in a row
Looks like somebody got butt-hurt
I hope it didn't result in a traumatic brain injury. Just imagine what the future posts could be like.
Ticket sales were $17,255,440 and not enough to cover the $11.9 cash value.
Sales of $17.2 million mean about $5.7 million for the jackpot prize pool and $8.6 million not allocated to prizes. After making up the $6.2 million that wasn't in the jackpot prize pool there's still $2.4 million left over. It's not the usual 50%, but it's still a profit.

PB & MM ticket cost breakdown
What each state does with their share is up to them, but the official rules cover pretty much everything else about the financial aspect. The prize pool breakdown is on page 27 of the Powerball rules and on page 13 of the MegaMillions rules
For both games 50% of tickets sales goes towards the prize pool and 50% goes to the state. The jackpot is fixed because the designated amount just gets split among however many winner there are. For the other prizes probability makes things work well in th

You are in a lottery pool - on average over 6000 tickets are brought
Update - the person who asked this question is playing in the Jackpot App - with other folks from his stake - on average with the public pool there are about 6000 sometime more tickets purchase.. I as well as him was wondering why - they can not pull down a win at least a few third or fourth prizes.
P.S. He has been in the pool about a year...
Thanks for your comments and input...

Lottery syndicate
Those are good points, if the Pool plan on always purchasing QPs,.. but I would point out that those plans may needlessly squander any of the members specialized talents...
The Pool may include some members with better Math skills than QPs may offer..so, there seems to be advantages and disadvantages, in this case..

getting back to an old topic RNG controlled
I read an article a couple years ago about how the casinos had figured out how to get around those minimum payout requirements. It used to be on certain slot machines, if you sat and played one long enough, you could figure out the payout patterns. For example, if it's paying on every eighteenth play, you could time your bets so you played small for 17 in a row and then bump it way up when the machine was ready to pay out. Clever players could walk away with big money doing this. So what the cas

$731.1 million Powerball jackpot claimed by anonymous group in Maryland
Well......if you say so.
I can only say that when I bought tix for my work pool, I bought A TICKET. That ONE ticket would have several lines of numbers on it. There were 8 people in the pool. Each one kicked in $2. I would buy one ticket that had 8 lines, each having unique sets of numbers.
Only one line could win.

Ontario Pick3 Payout on $2,$5,$10 wager
hi, thank you for reply.
thats what i thought initially too. make sense in any other lottery, like pick2 or pick4 where fixed price payout (limited of liability maximum, of course).
but they said 50% of pool going to payout. so if i play $1, i contribute $1 to pool, if i play $10 i contribute $10, and if i win on $10 payout will be 10x of prize? still not convinced...
