$1.25 BILLION: Epic Powerball winless streak marches on
The Poisson distribution for the probability for various numbers of winners, based on the estimated sales posted on the Texas Lottery website, $166,593,667, is as follows: k, number of winners p(m,k) 0 74.34% 1 22.04% 2 3.27% 3 0.32% 4 0.02% 5 0.00% Sales of course, may ultimately be higher, in which case, the probability of a single winner or multiple winners at each level will go up and the probability of no winner, 0, will go down.

What's earnings value ? Never heard that term used when discussing or reading about the lottery. Are you talking about earnings value from a players perspective or the lottery's perspective as it relates to running their business? Reduced jackpots are a direct result of reduced ticket sales. It's very hard for me to see how the Fla Lottery gets higher earnings value when they aren't selling as many FF5 tickets as they used to. G5

$1.25 BILLION: Epic Powerball winless streak marches on
I think there will be multiple winners. As long as they've sold two or more tickets there's a chance of multiple winners, but the chance is pretty low until sales get pretty big. Actual sales will be higher, but the initial estimate is for about 77.25 million tickets. For that many tickets, if they were all chosen randomly, the chance of any number of winners is 23.23%. The chance of a single winner is 22.21% so if the jackpot is hit there's a 95.6% chance of a single winner. There's a 2.68

I'm sure they did it thinking it would increase sales but really it backfired. For some reason it split the players between midday and evening reducing that evening jackpot. I usually only play 2 sets (one set I've been playing for 20+ years) so I play both draws. Good Luck, Chris

my idea for a multi-state lottery
4) 10 cents of each ticket gets added to the jackpot. Thoughts? I think you've made a mistake, presumably in point 4. You know the chance of matching 6 of 68 is 1 in 109.45 million, so you should expect 1 jackpot winner for every 109.45 million tickets. With 10 cents from each ticket going to the jackpot you'll have just under $11 million each time you pay a winner $25 million. You could do that with an annuity, but if you hand out cash you have a problem. To fully fund a cash prize of $

New York- The Million Dollar Raffle
New York Lottery held a raffle-style drawing the concluded on October 26, 2025. Buy-in was $20/ticket and the game was advertised as the best odds to win $1,000,000; as the following indicates, those odds got remarkably better for those that played. Reportedly, only 791,352 of the planned 2,000,000 tickets were sold; this was over a many month marketing campaign. Apparently NYL took a bath as there were 15, $1,000,000 grand prize winners, 15, $100,000 second prize winners, 15, $25,000 third plac

Mega Millions and Powerball Race
The Mega Millions jackpot increased by $10 million to $80 million. The Mega Millions jackpot is trending higher in this run. The supported jackpot is $56.1 million whereas in the previous run, the supported jackpot was $53 million. In the previous Mega Millions run, the jackpot continued to increase by the minimum $10 million until it reached $150. It appears the in this run, once the jackpot reaches $140 million, the jackpot increases will be larger than the minimum. That is, by then the jackpo

That's very possible! In any case, maybe we'll see an increase in PB sales now that MM is back down to $50M.

Mississippi Lottery halts Cash 3 triple payout promotion one week in
Those funds were apparently only enough for six days and not for the entire month of November they advertised. And? They expected to pay out some amount, but players won that amount in about 1/4 of the time the lottery expected. They ended up paying out 97% of all the wagers that month. Don't recall the KY Lottery saying because of an overwhelming player response they would stop sales of triples. And? Triples account for 1% of the possible results and get drawn 1% of the time as a l

Are you playing Mega Millions with the $5.00 per play?
KYF, Thanks for the break down with needing generated sales and percentages. I haven't considered those particular aspects on the new $5 price tag. My contention is that this run is already at the 40/41 rollover point because of the $50M starting point as opposed to $20M. They eliminated 2 draws and some change by doing so. They also have eliminated the frenzy point(IMHO) that has been a fairly consistent aspect of both the PB and MM games. While the last increase is $57M, I have a suspicion
