I think so too. Even in an anonymous state, I would plan to see if the state would allow me to use a trust to claim a huge jackpot. Muddying and distancing that chain of custody to my name...lol.

I have a question. Did the winner have to form a trust to claim the prize? I thought Texas allowed winners to remain anonymous. What are the benefits of using a trust in this instance?

My top concern after winning a large amount would be security for myself and my family. Securing the finances is important, obviously, but I'd be nervous every time somebody left the house because of the kidnapping risk. No anonymous claiming in my state, so your name's going to show up on the radar of literally a bunch of people you'd rather never meet.

is it possible to claim a jackpot without even the lottery knowing your identity?
on another thread a poster said something that sounded like he believes he can send a lawyer to claim a jackpot for him without even the lottery finding out who he is. this poster seems to live in a state that allows winners to remain anonymous from the public, but i don't think a jackpot winner can hide their identity from the the lottery. i could be wrong though. what do you think?

If I lived in a non anonymous state like California, I would still very minimally check with a lottery attorney to see if I missed anything even if I was 99.9 % certain of the answer. After that, yea just a tax attorney and financial expert. I would bring them with me to claim just to take the photo focus off of one person. But I am overly cautious.
