Sometimes it's good when the jackpots get won below 500 million, reason being that we don't get into a frenzy and spend more that we planned to The win will fuel the MM run. I still got my PB ticket for Saturday, 5M is still a good win.

Man, I could write a book on this one. So I'll keep it brief... How do you expect the prize pool to grow faster when you're adding 20% more players ??? (Not really- see next item.) UK players will reject this based on the ticket cost and taxable (US portion) jackpots. This is just a test market to see if Powerball can sell a $5+ ticket ( 4= $5.44 US). I don't think it's because of the third drawing in a week. People tend to buy lottery tickets on a per-week basis, not a per-drawing basis. I suspect that many people who were buying multiple tickets for the Wednesday and Saturday drawings stuck with the same weekly expenditure or maybe added one more ticket. Voted Very Little myself. The $5 price fundamentally changed the value math, and I don't think enough people have run the numbers on what you're actually getting for the extra $3. The jackpot odds barely moved: the big prize went from 1 in 302,575,350 to 1 in 290,472,336 with the removal of one Mega Ball. That's about a 4% improvement.
