I liked it better when we weren't being lied to about the jackpots restarting at $40M ( last for the PB was on 2-15-2020) not the $20M(starting on 4-11-2020) figure they blamed on Covid. What's the alternative. No lottery. Everyone knows the lump sum is all that is in a jackpot. The lure is what the annuity would be is the jackpot you see. Taxes are taxes. No escaping the taxes. You just accept what you get and be happy about it. They are not about to all of a sudden announce, no more taxes on excessive lottery winnings.

The Saturday jackpot was raised to $1.3 billion , with a cash option of $608.9 million . I'm wondering if they managed a typo for the cash value. If the cash:annuity ratio stayed the same it would be $628.9 million cash. If it's really $6 0 8.9 that's a pretty big change in interest rates, and a fairly big coincidence that the difference is an even $20.0 million. The TX website hasn't posted the worksheet yet, but that should give us the answer if MUSL doesn't make a change first.

Get your point. But...interest rates control the difference between annuity prize and cash value prize. MM cash value for Tuesday draw is $175.4 million. That's enough for me. In fact, at my age, $1 million ($630,000 after fed taxes) is enough for me.
