Uff Da! I recently said on a thread about cash vs annuity that I have no desire to turn my millions into billions if I ever win a jackpot. By the way, a former manager had a heart attack when we worked for a General Manager who was extremely difficult. He had never suffered from a heart condition before, but one day was extremely bad, and the GM was screaming his head off at everyone, especially him. The next morning, the store manager got out of bed and had a heart attack in the s

Payout of winnings less than jackpot
Justxploring Coin Toss, Powerball is a 30 year annuity. (MM is 26) However, the annuity for PB is graduated. The first check is the smallest and then it will increase every year for 29 years. Thanks, I wasn't sure. I think that teaches us that every discussion we've ever had it about cash vs annuity should include the person's age!

Random Generation of Quickpicks
This question -- about where the Quick Pick numbers are generated -- comes up almost as often as the cash vs. annuity debate. I remember posting about this several times, so I went ahead and did a full search by broadening the date range to include all history. Sure enough, I located one such discussion way back in 2002 (I'm sure there are several since then): https://www.lotterypost.com/thread/64353

Forming a Trust... any links to info?
konane,i do not have the facts of the case you are speaking of, because you did not provide the name of the case. please provide me with the name of the case...i am very curious about it. in your example though, it sounds like the settlor did not pick his own trustee, rather the trustee was a stranger appointed by the courts who may or may not have an understanding of the settlors true wishes before death. even so, the trustee still has a ficuciary responsibility to act in the best interests o

Do lottery tickets expire so the lottery commission can deny paying prizes?
i agree with you...i asked myself that before... i think they might worry that people will try to fasificate/copycat them... Something else i suspect..i dont know if the lottery can alter what plays but it gives me the sensation that if you can beat their game and you are someone with radical ideas or beliefs, they will cut you off and choose anoter winners...Just like in sponsonships and stuff.... 1 reason why it will expire in 6 months is because it could be that the money they are pa

Mega Millions $252,000,000.00
music, This goes way back but a woman in NJ won the jackpot twice and now lives in a mobile home on her social security check. //////////////////////////////////////////////////////// All, Here's some interesting information from Money Crashers on cash vs annuity, and as often as it's been discussed here on LP there's one thing I've never seen discussed (I'll bold it) 'belly up' ......sounds far fetched but considering some stunts lotteries have pulled, like Illinois not paying win

Does the size of the lottery jackpot matter to you?
They keep getting ungrateful and raising the odds on the games so I now wait before I jump in. I have been playing so long without winning that I view increasing odds as an attack on loyal players. My jackpot limits are $400,000,000 for Powerball and $150,000,000 for Mega Millions because the more they raise the odds the more I expect to lose. The Powerball second prize isn't so great anymore given the $2 or $3 ticket price vs the Mega Millions second prize being decent for $2

Current Jackpots...
What Todd and USA Mega said pertaining to the lump sum being the real cash value, and the following from the MM and PB websites: Mega Millions: The Mega Millions annuity is paid out as one immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments (30 total). Each payment is 5% bigger than the previous one. This helps protect winners lifestyle and purchasing power in periods of inflation. For a typical jackpot of $100 million, the initial payment would be about $1.5 million, and future annual payments

Why the fervor over a winner being a quick pick or self pick?
rcbbuckeye, Artist77, I used the term incensed based on a lot of discussions here on LP about quick picks. I can easily imagine this; QP winner: Wow, I played a quick picj and it won the jackpot but I have to aplit it with someone who picked the same numbers. Self pick winner: I spent hours goiung over my charts and strategies and past results and my numbers came in but I'm going to have to split the jackpot with some @!^^($@^ who played a @^%$*%%( quick pick! Consider these 'stin

Claiming Anonymously and keeping your winnings! (a paranoid approach)
Hi Everyone, I'm a Longtime LotteryPost reader, first time contributor. I've been visiting this site and Todd's USA Mega for at least 5 years, been playing the lotto a lot longer than that. This probably seems like a big pretentious first post, but I joined because I wanted to share some thoughts and info I've accumulated over the years, if you don't mind. This is an awesome community and I love hearing your thoughts and rhetoric over the forum topics here, so I'd love to share one more, if y
