Jackpot : Annuity vs cash value
There is a discussion in the MM thread about taking the annuity vs cash value. I thought taking the cash value is 100% the right decision. Long term investments will almost always beat the return of a annuity right?

One more annuity vs cash discussion
One thing I haven't seen mentioned in these discussions, (or I missed), is any mention of someone taking a cash option not having the same buying power , let's say, of what the annuity offered. In other words, let's say the deal is a $100,000,000 annuity spread over 20 or 26 years as compared to a cash option that is about 40% of that, pre-tax. On Saturday January 23rd of this year, the Jackpot Annuity went up $80K and the Cash Value went up $100K from the previous draw....That'

Kansas Powerball lottery winner claims jackpot anonymously
The thread in which Chuck explained things was in a thread about a pool winning PB, when the usual debates about annuity vs cash started. You can start here: https://www.lotterypost.com/news/139681.htm?p=2 As Todd pointed out, MM pays out on a different schedule, but other than that the procedure is similar. Seek bids, buy the annuity, send a check each year. It is, naturally, the annuity that is determined by interest rates. Ticket sales generate cash, and the cash is used to buy the
