Just a thought
Casho,At least I know the meaning of Annuity vs. Cash Option. Obviously, you don't since you got a big fat NO (6 in total) votes for your definition. You got 1 Yes vote which obviously was yours.

Michigan's Winfall
Bradly: I hope WINFALL puts pressure on Ohio to overhaul its Stupid Lotto - no more Kicker (MI dropped its Zinger a while ago) and for OH to use the same cash value for lump sum vs annuity winners. I'm sure OH will counter that its Lotto 6/49 starts at $4 million, whereas WINFALL will be capped at $5 million.

It probably won't make much of a difference but ya never kno
Cash,Well I'm only in my late 20s, although I have been called an old soul ...If I have reason to meet with the lottery folks (read: if I win) I would ask for a few moments to discuss lump sum vs. annuity. I'm sure they've probably already heard about it and as I said in my email to them MA Millions and Megabucks are too similar IMO. One of them (probably MM) needs to change..

What Powerball is suggesting..
I don't think it would be wise for Powerball to make the plays $2 (OK with the Powerplay option.) I think Ohio players are eager to try BG-MM, especially with the long odds to win the $5 fourth prize in Super Lotto Plus. Ohio still gyps those who take the lump sum in Super Lotto Plus (cash value is 44% of annuity, vs 53-54% in BG-the extra four years in the OH annuity DO NOT account for the large percentage differential).

Ohio Super Lotto 6/49 for 10/13/2001
These games are usually not worth playing: 1) MA Megabucks 6/42; 2) Mass Millions 6/49. Both games are still ANNUITY-ONLY. 3) NY Lotto 6/59 (2g-$1) Prize pool only 40% of sales. 4) OH Lotto 6/49. Ohio uses different cash values for annuity vs lump-sum winners. 5) PA Super-6 (6/69; 3g-$1) Players CANNOT choose 2/3 of #. 6) Tri-St Megabucks 6/42 (ME-NH-VT); In N.H. play Powerball.

Powerball & Megamillions Growing
with MM roll today it hit 85million cash vs current powerball cash of 84.6 million THERE NICK AND NICK FOLKS! i have a feeling mm in a few more rolls will be way ahead anyway with its more players and more ticket sales ratio to pb sells for same level jackpots. you have to admit pb Annuity makes mm Annuity a joke in marketing value LOL powerballs makes 84.6m into $181,000,000 vs mega millions 85m into $148,000,000 way to go pb marketing.

Mega Millions to adjust starting jackpot amount, eliminate minimum increases
Ok,.. So it's obvious again, that you don't SEE the difference in $40 Million, vs $20 Million resetjackpots.. Friday's advertised MM jackpot was $121 million and with only 8.35 million tickets sold there was only a 2.7% of somebody winning the jackpot. And if they did, considering what the World is now going through, it's plain stupid to get a 29 year annuity. We know that the increases has always reflected ticket sales from draw to draw..!! Because the with the exceptions of the s

POWERBALL CREATES WORLD'S FIRST BILLION-DOLLAR JACKPOT
. I've been thinking of annuity vs. cash payment. Annuity: more efficient spending of your doggone money Cash option: Will pretty much prevent the rare/unlikely event of an IRS computer getting a glitch, and erroneously printing some notice for you to report your local irs office.

Wisconsin MegaBucks $$
The starting jackpot for WI's Megabucks is 1 mil. It really takes a long time for the jackpot to crawl up this high... I'd have to look it up but I think it's been nearly a year and a half since this jackpot started rolling. The lack of bigger jackpots in PA probably has to do with PA's population being more than double of WI's. I just looked up the number of winners from the last Megabucks draw and, based on number of 2nd and 3rd prize winners, I'd estimate there were only $200,000-$300,000
