Optimum # of Previous Draws... ??
There are almost as many theories on how many past draws to utilize as there are forums on the 'net... my question is this (2 part)...How many past draws should you use for the MUSL Powerball... and why use that many?(the more math in the answer the better :-) )?(p.s. please no negativity from the previous draws are irrelevant contingent or a rehash of the Annuity vs. Cash Debate... Why search for anything other than the winning combo? and I WOULD take the cash ;-) )

5/7 New Tex Lot 60-100 million Jacks
Orange:There is at least one area where the NY Lottery DOES NOT listen to its customers: cash vs annuity.NY, like Texas requires Lotto (and MM) players to make the CVO/annuity decision when they play, instead of after they win. Even with being pressured to choose ahead of time, the overwhelming preference is for the lump sum. However, since Tax-Free Million ($1 million cash AFTER withholdings) was taken off the market over 2 1/2 years ago, the NY Lottery has not offered a $600,000 or more LU

Ohio649P for 11/30/02
IIRC, winners in Ohio (both 6/49 and Mega Millions) can choose cash AFTER they won, even on an ANNUITY ticket. A Mega Millions winner would have been foolish to want the 26 annual payments. However, given the difference in cash value percentages of Ohio Lotto (44%) vs Powerball (54%), whose annuity options each are 30 equal annual payments, it might be justifiable to want the Ohio 6/49 annuity. (Fortunately I don't live in or near Ohio.) The winner who had not come forward still can choose. Th

Ohio SuperLotto...10/05/2002
RJOh: I'm sure all US lotteries want to sell as many tickets as (reasonably) possible. But it means having the courage to make sensible changes to (and sometimes overhauling) existing games as well as introducing new ones. With Ohio selling MM, there is no need to keep their 6/49 game as is, with or without the free play for three numbers. Eliminate the Kicker. Retire the bonus ball and go back to the 6/47 matrix. Pay $3 for three numbers, $60 if you match four numbers, and $2000 for five numb

Mega Millions vs Ohio 6/49
Next MM jackpot: $17 million. Next Ohio 6/49 jackpot: $18 million. Approximate CASH VALUE of MM: $10.1 million; of Ohio 6/49: $7.9 million. That's right, the MM cash option is ~59 1/2% of the annuity, but the Ohio 6/49 cash value is _only_ 44%! (The four extra payments in the Ohio 6/49 DO NOT represent a true 15 1/2 percentage-point difference.) Michigan (Millions) and Pennsylvania (Super-6) are planning to replace their single-state jackpot games next year. Ohio needs a NEW game as well (ALL-CA

To FYI:
The 30-year annuity in Ohio vs the 26-year annuity for MM is _NOT_ the big reason why the percentage of the cash value of the annuity is smaller for Ohio Lotto than for MM. The Ohio Lottery uses two different interest rates to compute the cash value of the advertised annuity. The last time I checked, the interest rate for computing the cash value of the annuity is 1.5 points lower than the interest rate of the cash value PAID to winners taking the lump sum. This means that the cash value paid to

Message to Ohio Lottery players
The $13.3 million cash value in Mega Millions is over 53% of the annuity option. However, the Ohio Lotto cash value is ONLY 44% of the annuity. The extra four payments (30 total) in the Ohio Lotto annuity do not fully account for the 9-percentage-point difference in the percentage of the cash options vs the respective annuities. This proves that the Ohio Lottery continues to cheat lump-sum winners in Ohio Lotto of the FULL cash value. Something to think about now that Mega Millions is played in

Annuity or Cash option?
For Powerball: I play Powerball in NH and while I sometimes get asked by the clerk whether I want annuity of cash, I have read on Powerball's site that you may choose cash or annuity after the drawing. I think (not sure if it's the same in all states) that you have 60 days to pick lump sum otherwise it will default to annuity.Big Game: I play in MA and MA clerks don't ask about cash vs. annuity when you buy the ticket. According to MA's lottery site, you have 60 days to choose lump sum, or other

Hello everyone
Hello everyone,Great site, and this is my first post. I've been reading through some of the posts and havea question that I'm hoping someone can answer for me. There seems to be common thought from those who know that annuity options are notworth playing. I live in MA and we do have MA Millions and Megabucks which only offerannuity. My questions is WHY is that such a bad thing? Is there a better chance to endup with more of your winnings by choosing lump-sum vs. annuity? I do understand that h

Cash vs annuity, another factor to consider?
Looking at USA MEGA jackpot analysis for Powerball at $40 for Pennsylvania (just an arbitrafry pick) I'm wondering if the new tax rates and the current regime going after those who make so much a year wiuld be another reason ro opt for cash, a one time payout. Let's consider: Pennsylvania: No State Tax on Lottery Prizes! Your average net per year: $1,000,000 Your net payout: $18,825,000 After 30 payments: $30,000,000 Annuity Payment Schedule So for those 30 y
